I have run across a website about a book published in Austrailia that seems to be specifically for a lapband bandster.

Has anyone ever heard of it or found it in their research for nutritional things to eat after being banded? The website is:

www.foodtalk.com.au/pubs.html. The cost is $16.00 anywhere in the world. If you go to the site it lists the ISBN number and it has items of interest to a bandster.

If anyone else thinks it's worth it, let me know. This is the only book I have found that may be of assistance in helping acheive a weight loss goal.

Thanks for reading and hopefully letting me know what you think about it.

Hi Tacy -

I have to confess that I am intrigued, even though I know that except for the liquid/mush stages, bandsters can eat pretty much anything they can tolerate, and that our nutritional needs are no different than before (since we have no malabsorption issues).

If I saw it in a bookstore I definitely would have a sit and thumb through it, but I don't know that I'm willing to pay $16 +shipping and handling for a book that I'm relatively certain won't tell me anything I don't already know... :cry

That's the great thing about marketing - people are convinced that there is a big secret they haven't learned yet, and even though we are constantly being disappointed by spending big bucks to learn stuff we already knew, there's always the possibility that it could be life changing, particularly if one has not become completely jaded with the whole game.

I guess I am not yet completed jaded with the whole game, but I am a little more picky about what I allow myself to get sucked into...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
