Hello,

My name is Nadine. I am here because I had the lap-band surgery in January if this year and then a second surgery on April 14 that was needed to make repairs to the direction that the port was facing. I have struggled with my weight my entire life but after many years of caring for others before myself; I decided that it was time for me to take care of myself. I tried to lose the weight by dieting, changing my diet, excersice, even tried the liquid diet and lost some weight but after the program was over, I gained it all back. Then I learned about the lapband and researched the pros and cons and made a decision that I thought was going to save my life and got the lapband in January of this year. I was inspired by all the weight loss success stories you see on YouTube, and other sites like this and was ready to give this my 100%. But sadly; this decision was a very expensive, and unfruitfull one. The doctor that operated me treated me ok before I had the surgery, he and his staff would "pump me up" when they thought that I would have a change of heart and decide not to go through the surgery, but once I had the surgery; they treated me worse than I have ever experienced in my life. They gave me no support or direction. I had the surgery in January and did not get my first fill until April but not after I had to plea with them because I wasn't losing any weight. When they finally gave me an appointment for a fill; they started painfully and heartlessly poking around my abdomen "trying" to locate the port. I had to go to the hospital to get about 10 x ray pictures of my abdomen in order for them to see that the port was facing the wrong direction. They repaired this on April the 14th and gave me a fill of about 6cc's but this still has not made a difference. I still do not fill much obstruction and have still not lost any weight. I don' t have any support either from a doctor, friends or family and need some guidance and help so I saw this website and hope that some of you out there may be kind enough to help me. I thank you all in advance for your support.

Have a great day

Wow, honey... I don't know what to tell you to do. ='( My doctor and his staff have been so supportive and have never turned me down for a fill. I suppose they would if they thought I absolutely didn't need it. However, I can go in every 2 weeks for a fill as long as I feel I need it. They really listen to me and have become close friends to me as well as clinic staff.

I guess I cannot stress enough to get other outside opinions of a doctor before going through with any sort of surgery with him. I did have a bad experience with another surgery I had because I didn't hear anything bad about the surgeon until AFTER I had the surgery.

I really think that with some professional support you will succeed. I hope that maybe you can find another Lap Band doctor close to you that can help you.

Good Luck and Godspeed! <3

You really need to find another surgeon (doctor) to do your fills and to take care of you from here on out!!! I am so sorry you were treated like that!! I see that you are from California, I live about 25 miles from the Oregon border. How far are you from Oregon?? My surgeon is in Klamath Falls, Oregon and the staff there are very supportive. Let me know if you are somewhat close to me!! (hugs) to you!!

Naddine, sorry you have been treated this way. I would suggest calling your surgeon and lying it all out for him. If he still is unresponsive to your needs then definitely find a new doc for fills and support. You should be able to find a bunch in your area.

I would also suggest scouring this board for information. It seams that no matter what phase of the process i have been in their are numerous posts that pertain to me. If you hit the "NEW POSTS" button on top it will display all the new posts on the entire board since your last visit. Then just read, read, and read some more. You can and will succeed with the proper knowledge. The last thing, DONT be afraid to ask questions. You will get good answers, maybe not what you want to hear but it will for the most part be what you need to do to be successful! Good luck on your journey, Waynooo:thumbup:

Thank you Everyone for replying to me. I didn't list the name of the Doctor but here he is...Dr. Shyam L. Dahiya. I wish I would have looked around more before I settled for this surgeon. I settled for less because of my urgency to get the surgery and because of my work schedule.

But, does anyone know what the so called "FILL CENTERS" are all about?

Thank you,

MsNadine :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
