Recommended Posts

I am also getting sooooooo bored:bored: of the same mushes everyday getting very frustrated:cursing: don't know what to have.

Currently having yogurt, shakes, Jello, mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs. What can I eat? Don't like cottage cheese. Please help.

According to my Dr it is. I can't eat in the mornings - it makes me a ravenous lunatic for the whole day if I don't wait a few hours to eat. I was told to drink a Protein Shake after I get up to get my metabolism in gear for the day and so far it is working well.

I usually have either a Protein Shake or bar for breakfast. I am usually on the run at that time so it is easy for me to just grab it and go. Also, I hit the gym so I need something in the morning so I dont pass out. On the weekend I have a bit more time I might have some turkey bacon and eggs. Sparkrecipes.com has a lot of recipes you can adjust> i search under low carb and substitute to keep it low fat as well. Good luck

OH BTW- i havent tried them but i just recently saw them advertised- i think its jimmy dean_ has in the freezer section lite breakfast sandwiches and bowls

I second (or is it third) the Protein Shakes for breakfast- counting as a meal. I also keep one in the fridge at work for those days when I am running late so I don't eat the usual office Snacks. When I drink it then I count it as sort of a snack and have a light supper when I get home.

yes, i count my shakes as a meal - especially b/c of the calorie count. I also blend in 4-5 ice cubes, a small yogurt and some times a banana. then i pour it into my tallest reusable coffe mug w/lid from DDs and leave it in the freezer until i'm walking out the door. That way, i can drink it "like coffee" in the morning...in the car or at my desk at work. Works like a charm!! :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
