Hi all,

I finally had my procedure done on June 9th 2010 after months of doctors visits and changing habits. Now on my 4th day of postop. Its been a crazy trip but Im on my way to living healthy! I've been lurking here during my pre-op but I finally registered to Celebrate my procedure. I really think having a support network is a MAJOR help, I wouldn't suggest going solo through this whole ordeal as there are tons of helpful information from people who went through this with great results! I do miss the occasional steaks and burgers when I see tv commercials or people talking about BBQs :(:( but this is when a great support comes in to keep you on the right track. Whether they be your friends or message boards such as this - it really guides you to stick with it. The LAP-BAND® is just a tool but its only useful through a combined effort of other outside factors that completes the mission.

Right now, its still painful to get out of bed or watch the fresh stitches when taking a shower, but sometimes I get hungry - especially when cooking dinner for my two boys, lol. The Protein Shakes do help alleviate the hunger pangs, but I couldnt wait to start eating pureed foods and actual meals - small portions, but actual meals. I can't wait to actually see the results. I'm following the phases to the tee so wish me luck!!

Now for work, what do you guys bring? Do own those personal blenders and special containers? I need advice when it comes to packing lunch for work.

Congratulations!!!! And you have a great attitude starting out with this. You will do awesome if you keep following your own advice. Make sure you are getting all of your fluids in. It will also help with your hunger and your weightloss.

As for food. When I first started out and went back to work I was on the liquid. So I would take my shaker and milk to work with me and have my Protein shakes. I did have a battery powered blender that I got from The Vitamin Store. When I went mushie and regular foods I generally made my food at home and pack it in tupperware containers. I measure everything out at home it's alot easier. I am down to one Protein Shake a day which I have in the morning before I got to work. I get my protein from food sources now. My fluids I have a 36oz container which I fill with Crystal Light and I drink that throughout the day at work. When I come home I refill it and finish that up until I go to bed at night. That helps with the 64ozs. When you make dinner at night make a little extra and then just pack for the next day. It's easier for me if I make my lunches the day before so then I am not rushing around the next morning and I won't forget the things that I need. You can also make meals and freeze them. When you get on the mushies, stage 1 baby food is ok also. At least some of it is. Alot of the stuff i couldn't get by the texture phase so I had to make my own mushie food. Which I have a mini food processor that I made my food with.

Good luck and I hope that this helps you.

Congrats on the begining of an exciting journey! I agree you have a great attitude. Keep it up and you will do great. I eat Atkins bars when on the run. They may be something to grab for lunch once in a while, when your in a rush. Best wishes!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
