Sept. seems to far off

Recommended Posts

Just made my surgery date and feels like it will never get here. Have made a lot of the changes already since Tufts gives you a 6 month window pre-op. Done all the no white everything whole wheat/brown. Started the 1000mg Calcium & multivit a day. I dumped the soda habit before I even considered the lapband, started Water aerobics 3 nights a week for a little exersize and am now trying to work on seperating foods and solids. Despite these changes I have lost no weight and have to loose about 15 before Sept. so although I am not ready entirely I still hate the next 3 months will drag.

Spend this time you've been given to educate yourself. I know people who had to wait longer than you have to and they have done excellent because they were well prepared. I myself had to wait 4 months for the whole process and I looked at it as a gift. Read these forums, read WLS books and prepare yourself mentally for the "loss" of food. Be positive and keep your chin up!!! Best wishes!

Who are you tellin! I had my surgery date set and everything for JUNE 1st! I finished all the testing...eval, dietician, sleep study....EVERYTHING. They filed for an approval on APRIL 27TH....found out my insurance dropped me on April 30TH because I was too old to be covered under my parents! Now I have to pay the full amount for the deductible and out-of-pocket PLUS wait till september...sigh

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
