When I have a craving,I have a major problem of overeating. I want to get over the idea of having a “Clean plate”!

What do you do if you have a “small” taste for something (candy, cake, etc.), but you can only buy it in a large amount?? Do you NOT buy it at all? Do you eat your portion and give the rest away or throw it away?

I don't buy it at all. I am single and live alone. There is no one else here to share with me.

When I entertain and have something tempting left over, it goes right to the doorman and the guys who work in my garage.

Everyone is different. Some people can be happy with just a bite or two and some cannot. If it is something I can take or leave, I leave it. If it is something I can't resist, I leave it.

The ONLY time I will indulge in something really tempting is if I am out with a group and we decide to share a dessert. I'll take one spoonful or forkful and will be fine with that, but I'd never show the same restraint if I ordered a dessert for myself.

If u buy a big portion, try freezing half or more of it. What helps me with my sweet tooth cravings is sipping on sugar free coolaid. Or just buy a smal single serving of something.

sugar free sucking candies help with the sweet cravings for me. I haven't found a good solution for the salty cravings yet...

Thanks you everyone your suggestions! The Craving Monster is trying to get the best of me :(

I have dogs, bless their hungry hearts, for non-chocolate foods, a grown son in good shape for chocolate, and if all else fails, I have friends with kids who are often willing to take sweets off my hands. I also adore the 100 calorie packs and leave "room" for one at the end of the day. They have both sweet and salty snacks...even those lovely almonds with dark cocoa. And for the hot nights in Texas Blue Bell fudge bars are 110 calories. I know none of the above are exactly health foods but they get me through the night...and I'm on track with my desired weight loss.

I chew a lot of gum!!! lol I crave Starbucks or any "coffee" type drink. So I get a Skinny Latte and have them add Splenda. I do, every now and then, get an extra coffee caramel frappachino. But that is rare. The gum really helps me diet. Also, staying hydrated. Remember 64+ oz. of Fluid a day. Diet Snapple is great and it, too, is sweet. Hope this helps. Best wishes!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
