They think I'm malnourished

Recommended Posts

Ok so I've been having headaches that actually kept me from work two days this week. New med side effects are fun that way. I get back today and find out that some of the very caring friends I have here are concerned that I'm getting headaches because I'm malnourished. They actually said that. I know they're really just concerned for my health but really?! After this last fill I've had some trouble with pb'ing but nothing that hasn't taught me what my band doesn't want in it. Lessons learned and I've gone on. But I'm far from malnourished.

No real question here today guys just needed to vent a bit to folks who understand.

Sounds a little bit like jealousy to me. Even those who like/love you and want to be happy for you, tend to get a little envious when you start losing weight. Normal weight people do it as bad as overweight and deep down, they prefer to keep you the way you were. I don't think they mean to feel that way, but it almost always happens.

People around me blame my band every time anything goes wrong with my health. I don't let it get to me. Sometimes it is my band, other times its not. Even my GP blames my band when I have stomach trouble, which I've had since I was a teen.

Take it as a sort of compliment and don't listen to them.

Keep up the good work!

Sounds a bit like sabotage - experiencing that at the moment from several sources - makes me even more determined to get back to my previously hot self.

Thank you to every one on the input. To answer a few questions. Yes, I'm taking all of the Vitamins that my surgeon suggests (most of the time any way), and the headaches went away after I stopped the med. Switched to a different one today so we'll see how that goes. So far it's good. I did start Protein Shakes again after not seeing the scale budge and surprise surprise I'm melting again. Thanks again everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
