I'm 4 weeks post-op and know that I'm not getting enough Protein. I'm always running late, so I don't have time to blend up a shake every day. Does anyone have any suggestions for pre-made Protein Drinks and/or bars that are tasty. I've tried a few pre-made drinks that make me gag, and the same for the bars. Any suggestions?

I haven't had any premade that I liked. What I have been able to do is rubbermaid has these little locking lids bowls that are small enough for like salad dressing etc... They are the prefect size for one scoop of protien powder. I think I got 5 or 6 of them. so I fill them on the weekend, put them in my work bag and take all of them to work, but them in my drawer. Then in the morning I get in and make my glass of Water and I have a shaker cup (got it at GNC, has a silver metal ball that helps blend everything) and I make my shake and drink it while I work.

I put the bowls back in my bag when empty and refill the next weekend, so I have a steady supply!!!

You pour the Protein powder into a shaker cup; pour in some water; screw the lid on; shake for about 20 seconds; drink and throw the cup in the sink or dishwasher.

That is not time consuming at all.

I love Optifast but you have to get it from a distributor.

I had been making mine with skim milk, a banana, and some ice, like a real shake. Never thought about just throwing it in a sealable container with Water and drinking it that way. DUH!!!!! But then again, I really don't like the Bariatric Advantage stuff that I've been drinking. So I'll try some of these other suggestions.

Thanks for the feedback all!!

Bariatric Advantage is gross!! Don't judge the others by that. You really have to taste them. There are flavorless Protein powders that you judge mix a little sugar free Kool-Aid and Water into them.

Hello, I've got the shake for you. It's Premier Nutrition's Protein Shake. It has 30 grams of Protein per shake!!! It's low fat, low carb and has 160 calories. It tastes good too, I have only seen/tried the chocolate flavor. I get it from costco, they've had it for a long time, but you may be able to get it from GNC. At Costco it's 18 shakes for something like $25. Highly recommended!

I love ready-made Slimfast Low Carb "creamy chocolate" flavor. I am pre-pre-op diet and I rely on these even those I am not even banded yet! 20 gms. Protein, 6 carbs & 190 calories...I buy them at Sam's Club and keep them in the fridge to grab on the way to work...sometimes I take 2 and have one for lunch if I know it's going to be a superbusy day!

Congrats on your sugery day! How are things going for you so far? I have a hard time getting in my Protein, too! Especially where I work... I feel like I'm so busy I can't breathe. Hang it there! Glad you're getting banded!!

Thanks for all of the above mentioned shakes too. This will help me out!

I tried samples of lots of things but now I just use Chike, chocolate bliss (tastes like a fudgicle) and orange creme (tastes like a creamsicle). You can mix it with milk or Water, which is great. I mix it with milk as often as possible to get the extra Protein. If you go to their website, chikenutrition.com, you can order free samples. It just costs a few dollars in shipping. And they have monthly specials. This month it is free shipping if you spend over $20. It is so popular that my doctor's office is now carrying it.

Don't mess with the amount of Protein you are taking in. I started at 60 and now I am at 100 grams due to hair loss.

I use Isopure zero carb clear Protein Drinks in the glass bottles. 20oz and 40 grams of Protein. I get the grape frost flavor and add lemonade to it to give it a better taste. They come in many fruit flavors. It's pretty good, but a little pricey. They run about $4 a bottle individually. I buy it by the 12pk case at GNC for $40 during gold card week.

Thanks! I just ordered the samples, so hopefully I'll like it!! I know, I'm really concerned about my protein intake. I'm trying to make good choices, but it is soooo hard!!!

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'll likely be giving them all a try!

I second the Premier Shake from Costco, alot of protein for little calories. It is pretty good as well

I also like the Special K high Protein Bars, 10 grams of Protein

BTW: Love the Shiba's!

I can handle the muscle milk shakes and they have about 9-11 carbs in them but they taste good and are easy to drink if you are in a hurry. I put my Protein Powder in a snack size ziplock and have a shaker bottle at work and just mix on break. It is only 4 oz's so how hard is that to drink? It really is a challenge for me to drink the Protein but I just suck it up and drink it. I haven't tried the unflavored but putting it in the sugar-free kool aid is a good idea. I will try it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
