24-36 hours after surgery... how did you feel?

Recommended Posts

Hey there!

My surgery is scheduled for 10am Tuesday (6/15), and I'm nervous, but definitely ready now.

However, I just found out that my husband and I have to meet with our attorney (about something totally unrelated, but urgent) the NEXT afternoon. It'll be about a 20-30 minute drive and then probably 30-45 minutes of paperwork signing and talking, then the drive home.

I am trying to get it changed to Monday, before I go in, but it's not looking promising.

How did you feel 24-36 hours after surgery? I'm having single-incision surgery, if that makes any difference.

I was high as a kite, because I was reading my pain med dosage as 2-3 TABLEspoons every 4 hours, not the proper teaspoons. I'm not sure what they'll give you for pain, but I wouldn't drive after taking pain meds (even if I had taken the correct amount of med).

I had surgery on Monday. Tuesday I was released but on pain killers. The site where the port was placed was/is sore. Worse than the port discomfort, is the gas floating around in my belly. I'm hoping it passes sooner rather than later

hehehe!! I definitely won't be driving, and hopefully I won't be TOO loopy. I don't want to have to ask the guy to repeat himself over and over again just because my brain is a sieve. *laugh*

I'm just hoping that any discomfort is managable enough at that point to get done what I have to get done.

My older daughter is going to day camp all day every day next week, and my younger is going to my mom's for the week, so other than this attorney business, I should be able to get several days of good rest after surgery.

Yeah, the gas pain is what I'm worried about most, I think, after reading over most of the surgery stories.

Although it's been compared to labor pains as far as intensity of pain goes... and I've had two natural births, so I guess I can wrangle some gas pains. (insert my clueless optimism here, heh)

Heh, well, I hope. At least with labor you know it's going to be over fairly soon, and the pains don't come unexpectedly. LOL!

I didn't have gas pains that bad-- only needed to take a gasX twice. The pain was definitely manageable. Heck, four days post op, I was out gardening. You should be fine, as long as you take the correct dosage of pain meds!

my hubby got up and took me to the mall. he said i needed to get out of the house and walk so he took me. his idea lol. i was moving slow but it was managable with pain meds. took a nap when i got home.

The first couple days for me was a lil rough. I was definetly sore, had absolutely no energy, and had to struggle just to stay hydrated. sleeping was interesting to say the least. I never had any gas, because right after my surgery, I walked and walked my life away. Just take things slow, have people help u w/ stuff, and you'll be fine! And remember to take ur meds. When ur not in pain, ur body can heal faster!

I apparently have a very low tolerance for pain. The next day, even on pain meds, I couldn't stand up straight. Driving was HORRIBLE! Just my .02

If this is what labor pains are like, I can have 10 kids. Bring it on.

Seriously, now, I was banded 10 days ago. The fist day was pretty tough for me, but mostly because I had a bad reaction to the pain meds and was really REALLY nauseous. My incisions were pretty sore for a few days, but it was definitely bearable. So, to sum up...you probably won't be up to dealing with any legal issues for the fist day or two, but if you can reschedule the appointment for 3-4 days after surgery, you'll be absolutely fine.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
