I had my 1st fill today at it was easypeasy! It was the overthinking about it which was the worst part..

It felt like any other blood test-type shot ..and I could feel it go through the hard part of the port..didn't hurt, just felt strange!

No biggie!

Same for me!! Today was my first fill. I was so nervous I had my husband go with me. My doctor had to go into surgery. so I had to wait an hour to be seen by a doctor I never met. Man I had myself work up for nothing. He said I had a really easy port to find and was done so fast. He put 3cc in my 14 band. No problems what so ever!

I had my first fill yesterday as well. I was so nervous all for nothing. It was a piece of cake. Got 2cc in my 10cc band.

Hi

Don't worry even a bit. I had my first fill two days ago and it's a snap. Going to get my teeth cleaned is harder. Just a quick pinch and seconds later you are good to go. You will speak with your fill nurse about what to expect. Don't worry about any of that. I think it is different for everybody. Mine was a cinch. No issues with swallowing or eating afterwards. Now, I can't wait for my next fill as I don't seem to have much restriction at all. Easy, peasy!! Good luck!

I got my first fill yesterday. 2cc in a 10cc band. The injection itself was virtually painless as they use local anesthetic first. But trying to sip the 3 cups of Water afterwords...at first if felt like I had swallowed a big baseball my esophagus hurt!!! Water went down fine but I had alot of air that wanted to come up. It got a little easier by the time I made it to the third cup of water (45 minutes later). I couldn't even drink my Protein Shakes yesterday I just didn't feel hungry!!! Today it's a little better occassionally throughout the day I will have that "stuck baseball" feeling again and it hurts!!!! I have to "burp myself" and the pain goes away. I hope this is not going to be a lifelong thing! Tomorrow I am supposed to be able to start eating for the first time since April 26th! I am a little leary but am looking forward to trying some blended fat free refried Beans and salsa!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
