Suggestions for exercise with sore incisions...

Recommended Posts

Hi all - I'll be six weeks post-op on Thursday and will then be able to exercise without restriction. My question is, whenever I've just jogged or walked kinda quickly, i notice that my incisions are still a little tender. Even when I touch them they hurt a bit. Did this happen to you and if so, what did you do to begin working out without the discomfort? One of my friends mentioned getting those workout abdominal wraps so it provides some support while running. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

i didn't have any pain, but it could be a good idea, try those pads, or something that holds your tummy tight....

I am only 11 days post op and began walking a couple of days ago. I am walking at a steady pace for 30 minutes... about 1.5 miles. I walk in my neighborhood and we have hills and inclines. I have noticed that my port area is very sensative and sore ... even a bit of swelling. My doctor wants me to walk... I am just wondering if this is normal. I have been icing the port area and taking some liquid tylenol. Should I stop walking for a while or is this ok?:tongue2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
