Am I missing something about California?

I bet the burnout is something terrible. I couldn't work a schedule like yours, I couldn't get adjusted to being off and on that fast, thus leading to serious burnout! I think a year round schedule is the key, there are a couple of districts around here that have that, but not a lot, but the ones that do, LOVE IT!! I guess that is the key, they do not want you to be too comfortable. Crazy.........

Oh well, just one job today, fairly busy.

Have a good one and glad you got in pool Judy!!!

Hey...

DD & I had to go get blood drawn this a.m.... then we went and picked up DS from camp... he was chosen as "Camper of the Week" for goalkeepers, so proud.

Have to work now... then am still planning on going to the meditation class. (Usually when I try to do something just for me, & even schedule it on the calendar, something comes up or happens that I have to give up my activity, so I'm crossing my fingers for this!)

Oh Judy, I know you'll miss that lil' guy. :)

Ok, work avoidance is over... time to get down to it!

Hi girls!

Judy, how's your knee today? I agree with Kris about staying on schedule with the meds. Never let the pain get so bad. I'm just amazed that you're able to walk around and even climb in and out of the pool. I think you're doing great!

Mae, your trip sounds fun! We always have international festivals here in town and the irish days and german days are the funnest, lol.

Jane, I think laura was talking about the repeal of prop 8 on her previous message. How's the job(s)? When do you get paid at sallys? Those days make the extra effort all worth it, lol.

Michelle, the zen workshop sounds great! And I can't believe how fast the summer has gone by! Have the kids started shopping for back to school yet?

Pammy, your road trip sounded fun! I love road trips just as long as I'm not the one driving! Do y'all take turns? Have you posted pics on Facebook? I'm getting excited about cali! Its getting here fast. Two weeks ago I realized I had a wedding scheduled that day but I got someone to cover it for me already.

Sorry I've been MIA! My schedule got crazy at work. I've been training a new lady and I am never in my office. And then at home we have been purging the house of crap. We need to make room for baby! Have yet to touch the nursery. Hopefully this weekend we will go out and buy the paint.

On Sunday we went crib shopping. Fell in love with a few sets but gave my mom the option to choose whichever one she wanted. She has my same tastes so I'm sure it'll be gorgeous.

I gotta get back to work now. Took me almost an hour to type this little bit out because I kept getting interrupted. The nerve of some people, lol!! Love y'all!

Mae, too funny, I think that was an old pic of Kat in pics that Laura posted.

I am so behind the times, I didn't know about the Cali law, the new Supreme Court Justice, I knew about the Clinton wedding, but have seen no pics.

There was a HORRIBLE and I mean HORRIBLE bus crash today, it involved two school buses, one empty tractor trailer and a pick up. If anyone saw pictures it is amazing that just two people died. Oh my gosh is all I can say. Just sad, I cried tonight when I watched the news. I am also being 'visited' so that could be the reason for the tears also.....

Okay, both jobs tomorrow.

I did get paid already. I really don't make much at all. Sometimes I wonder why I am doing this. I am not supposed to say how much I make, but will say it is less than 8.01 an hour. Missouri is one of 5 states that do not pay the federal minimum wage of 8.25.

Alright I am rambling.........................

Goodinight!!!

Good morning!

That is a good way to put it about the accident Pamela, it is hard to see that there was a pick up even in the crash, I just hope that person died instantly.

Off to both jobs, you are right Pamela every penny counts. I think I really like it, just need to get used to working two jobs. I left a note on her desk asking for a bunch of days off in September, of course I have the CA trip, State Fair (play), Shrek (play), and a wedding. I really could give up the wedding, the only one that would be disappointed in the whole bunch would be my Mom.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I like the buttercream idea myself Judy!!

Good morning, Violets..

A great day today. Therapy went very well. I'm bending to 96 and the pain has really dwindled due to icing the knee a lot more.

I'm waiting for Joe and Ethan to come over and make my day!!

Hope to get some pool time in this afternoon. Temp is 67 but the Water temp is 88.

Saw the pix of the bus accident.. how tragic.

Hope everyone has a great day. No therapy for me till Monday, except for what I do myself here!

Hello chicas~

I am still sickly...just enough to not want to do shit today! Gonna ride the funky train, then get in the pool later! I stayed up late and graded papers, so I have a reprieve today. I got the Wally Lamb book, I'll Fly Away at the dollar store. It is little stories about women in prison...told from their pt of view, so something like that!

Anyone, I need a good book suggestion, along the lines of Julia's Chocolates or The Glass Castle! I like rich text and can't stand books that describe the countryside for 20 pages! Anyone, anyone???

OK..that is it for me! Have a great day! I think I am going into work on Wed to pick up the keys etc. AND SO IT BEGINS. We go to Vegas on Thursday to see Lady Gaga.

Oh yeah...Susanne's mom surgery is the 19th. She'll go over on Tuesday or Wed. and I'll go over on Thursday the 19th and stay until Sat. It is a BIG deal. She has a mass that is between her colon and bladder and they have to fully cut her open. They have to turn her pace maker off during the surgery too. Sus is very nervous...I hate to see her worry.

OK...have a great day! BBL

OK...ended up downloading Such a Pretty Face by Cathy Lamb (ala Julia's Chocolates). Found out I am teaching 2 periods of ELD, 2 periods of LA strategic (low kids), and 1 period of Social Studies (to the strategic kids). UUUGGG. I am disappointed but am only sharing that with you. I will be "positive" and "upbeat" to everyone else...which you'll see on fb. But basically it sucks shit!

OK...gonna hit the book w/ a pillow on the couch!

Just up from a short nap. Ethan and his step bro Whitney were here and had fun in the pool. It was great seeing Joe again. PamELa..I just downloaded that book..will hit it after I finish The Cookbook Collector.

I'm waiting for Bob to get home with my tabloid fix so he can watch while I go in the pool for some R&R and therapy. The therapist said today... "now your trip is at the end of September, right?? I want to get you ready for that." She's as excited as I am.. lol

Jane, our state doesn't meet that minimum wage either. I think we just recently went up to 6.25/h.

I heard on the news Huntsville is the 8th geekiest city in America. Although after reading about it in the Examiner, they populated the list based off of education in the census, so that's something to be PROUD of!!

#3 was a city where EVERYONE in the city had a college degree! Wow, that's impressive.

Huntsville, Alabama - Call us ignorant, but when we started out with this list, we didn’t imagine an Alabama City claiming a spot. But Huntsville kept popping up as a great place to live and work for computer and information specialists, space engineers, mathematicians and other 'geeky' jobs. It’s also the 'center of rocket-propulsion research' in the country, whatever that means. Huntsville’s first name was actually Twickenham, named after Alexander Pope’s home in England; 'geeks' from across all disciplines.

Judy, I'm reading the Cookbook Collecter now, too. Are you liking it? I'm sortof "eh" about it. I figure all these characters will be coming together in some way, but not really compelled about any of them. Hm.

I went to the meditation class last night. It was good -- not too granola crunchy/magical. It was just nice to be quiet and calm for 1/2 an hour! I think I'll go back next week, & I'm supposed to "practice" during the week. Yeah, in all my free time, ha ha. But, we'll see...

Everyone have a great weekend!

Yep.. I'm in the same place, Michelle. Just kinda eh right now.

Glad your meditation went well.

Off to watch some more X files and then some food Network stuff.

Everyone enjoy their evening.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
