Hi,

Well I've finished day 7 of pre-op diet. I lost 3lbs.

I stuck to the letter and it wasn't too bad, at all !!

Tomorrow I have my last visit with the surgeon and my pre-op testing for surgery. Well the surgery is just around the corner. I'm getting excited :cursing:. Have all my shakes, Soups and power shots. So I'm ready to roll!!

Get a heating pad, I found it very soothing! And some lifesavers.

Carol

I was lucky that I did not have a lot of health issues for my size. Mostly my problems were with my joints. My GP had told me I would need a motorized wheel chair someday to get around, and I was having treatments for pain in my knees every six months. I also was taking meds for swelling in my ankles, and pain killers for my back problems. I never thought I would be able to go a day without Clebrex. Now I don't take any prescription medication. I seem to always be in Physical Therapy for something to do with my joints.

I truly feel many years younger and have so much more energy. I think getting banded was the best thing I ever did for myself. Finally, all the pieces came together and I was able to lose the weight. My doctor was great with educating us on proper eating habits, foods and execise.

Good luck on the 16th. I waiting to hear your sucess story in the near future.

I've been a type 2 diabetic for more than ten years, on insulin for the past 18 months (up to six injections a day) and taking heavy does of oral meds on top of all of that just to keep my BS around 140.

I am ten weeks post op. I tell everyone having either banding or bi-pass, you are doing the best and most selfish thing in your life. You, your surgeon, nutritionist, and God are putting 10+ years to your life.

The weight loss is fantastic, but for me the best byproduct is I am no longer taking insulin at all -- none since my surgery -- and I am weaning myself off my oral meds with the help of my doctor -- 1/8th of the dosage. That pleases me more than anything else.

Of course it is nice to wear clothes not just 4X warmups that fit, sizes from the distant past, even my old everyday shoes are roomy. All in all this is a wonderful gift.

Just keep in mind, this is a marathon not a sprint. Time is what you are giving yourself so use it wisely and develop if you don't have it already a positive outlook. There are still many hills to climb and plateaus to cross, but the journey is the joy. Enjoy it.:(

I will say a prayer for you on your surgery date. Hope you don't mind.

Thanks Will,

Beside feeling like a 90 year old cripple my BS's were out of control. Like you 5-6 shots & with Max oral meds. My A1C was up to 8.1. Last A1C was 6.5 MUCH Better:thumbup:!!! Lantus 60u - 45u and Humalog from 8-10u 4-5 X's down to 2-3u 1-3 X's a day. Now I just am monitoring and adjusting daily so I don't have any bad lows. This mornings fasting was 99!!:(

I just ordered some new "Walk/Run" Shoes. women's size 8WW. I didn't think about my feet getting skinny:lol:!!

Thanks for your thoughts and Prayers. Prayers are Always welcome!! Keep them coming.

Thanks to All,

In 12 hours I'll be banded. :sigh: Your support has really been appreciated. It's good having people your own age to relate to who :) have a mature outlook on life.

God Bless you,

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
