When do you stop eating before fill?

Recommended Posts

I am going for my first fill appointment on Thursday and a think that somewhere in my brain there is some memory of the doc saying not to eat anything that day or clears or something before the fill.... Does this sound right to you guys?

My surgeon doesn't require it, but I stick to liquids and make my appointment early in the day.

Just makes sense to me :cursing:

My doctor wants no food or drink 2 hours before a fill and liquids for 24-48 hours after a fill.

Mine says nothing to eat or drink 4 hrs before the fill and liquids for a couple of days afterwards, mushies for a couple days more and work yourself back up. Everyone's dr is different but this really works for me.

I ate an hour before I had my fill today and I am allowed to eat whatever I want after.

No rules about before a fill but liquids for 24 hours after one. But my daughter, who's banded, always eats a regular diet after her fills...same doc too. She tends to break this rule. I am more diligent about the rules than she is. Best wishes!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
