anyone out there had to start over

Recommended Posts

Hi Im Jill... banded originally in April 2008.... after 1 year, frustration high, had all salene removed. I never felt like it worked correctly, but it may have been 50/50 I must admit. I am scheduled for a fill under fluroscopy on 6/9 and am trying to have a new and better attitude. Anyone else out there starting over?

Hey Jill!! I am Amanda and I am right there with you. I was banded in August ,2007. I lost 85 lbs. and was doing great, I stopped losing and went in for a fill and it has been down hill every since. Every time I get a fill I get terrible heartburn, waking up in the night with stuff in my mouth, it's terrible. Needless to say it got so bad my doctor had to take out all of my fill. Well, I am sure you know what happened I gained 50 lbs. back. I got a fill about a month ago and I am having a hard time getting back on track. I came on here tonight hoping to find some motivation. Good luck with your journey, hopefully we will both get there.

I had surgery 11/08. Did great the first 7 months. then I stopped losing or would lose 2 lbs then gain 2 the next month. SO my weight has stayed the same for months and months now. I have tried a fill like every other month. By doctor said i have to be eating to much to maintain the weight. So he told me to go back to writing it all down, and no more than 1000 calorie/day. He said i should have been sitting at my goal by now. So i am still filled but feels like i am starting almost over.

start 287 current 227

Good luck... I think sometimes we just need to go back to basics. Its a tool...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
