postingnut 0 Posted July 26, 2003 Dr. Horgan in Chicago is terrific. He was one of the first in this country to do the lapband operation. One of the most experienced. He is also resonably priced for the U.S. The coordinator, Jeannie, is great as well. I've not seen her for awhile, so I'm not sure if she still works with Dr. Horgan or not. However, his staff at 900 N. Michigan, is quite frankly, not the best. I received conflicting information from different people there, i.e., how long to follow the pre and post diets, how long to leave bandages on, when first post-op appointment should be, etc. They really need to get their act together. They're not all that friendly or professional, either. But I have to say that Dr. Horgan does make up for it. I would recommend anyone to him. I just wish he could get a better staff for 900 N. Michigan location. They have had high turnover there, and even the newest don't quite perform well in my opinion.
Guest lmerr Posted December 16, 2003 Thanks for posting this information. I am considering the surgery and am from the Chicagoland area. It is difficult to find a doctor that you can trust. Did your insurance cover the surgery? Warmest regards, Lisa
GeezerSue 7 Posted December 17, 2003 I have heard this theme in many different ways...that essentially, on a scale of 1-10, his skills get a ten and everything else gets teeny, tiny numbers. It would be really nice if he could accept the criticism and make positive changes.

Belle joufflue une 1 Posted February 5, 2005 I am going to get my band on at UIC by Dr. Horgan. I have had all of my dealings with the staff at UIC, like Lauren, Maryann, and Celia. They are all SUPERB. For instance, from the very start, ever since before insurance approval and all, Lauren would respond to my questions via email immediately. This is true for the whole staff in the Nutrition and Wellness clinic. If anyone has any questions regarding the process, etc. please email me and I will be glad to share with you any information I have.--Joan
