How to get ur groove back ???

Recommended Posts

I was banded in April '09 and have lost about 65 lbs. The past two months, I've been going up & down 5-10 lbs. I can't seem to get motivated to eat right. It's like I'm burnt out on dieting but, I really want to get to my goal to lose 20 more lbs. (my ticker is probably wrong). I even joined Weight Watchers to try to get motivation.

I'm thinking about getting another fill but, I think I have pretty good restriction I just keep wanting to eat junk food.

If anyone knows how to get their groove back, PLEASE

HELP!!!

You have done so well. 65lbs is great! I would suggest you start an excersise program. It will spur on some weightloss and help with cravings. Also- can you keep the junk out of the house? It should help if you can temptation far away from you. Remember why you had the surgery in the first place. Think about how much better you feel since loosing 65lbs. You can do it!

I'd agree with the above. Start on a serious exercise regimen and when you look at the calorie count on the junk food you'll think about the time you wasted in the gym. Not that any of them worked long term, but I set off many a diet with the exercise, not the food first.

I'd also stock up on fat free Snacks to have for dessert and carry a Protein Bar around with you for cravings. People here sometimes suggest journaling for a few days tp get a grip on what's going on or going on liquids to jump start a little something.

Other than a fill though, there's no magical fix! But you've come so far that it seems silly to waste it on potato chips!

All this said, I'm not nearly as far into it so I'm still in the honeymoon phase. Good luck!

I could have written your post. I have the exact same situation going on. I keep thinking should I get a fill but I don't think that is the problem. I have restriction I am just not eating the right things. I am not gaining but I certainly am not losing either!

I did just start the Couch to 5K program hoping that switching up my exercise routine might get me motivated again. I need to finish this and lose my last 25 lbs or so. It does really upset me though that all of my bad food habits that I thought I had kicked are still very much there. I guess I just have to accept that I will always have to fight this battle. Really discouraging.

Yes start a good walking program. Sign up for a 5k and train for it. Tell your friends so you will have to do it. I was banded 7/14/2009. I have lost 88lbs. I have 20 pounds to goal. I am training to walk a 13.1 miles on Nov.7, 2010. So maybe if you set a goal and a plan to reach it you will melt away those last pounds. Go for it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
