Just got banded yesterday

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am brand new to this website. I was banded yesterday down in West Hills ,CA. I was considering lapband for a little over a year, and once I heard that my insurance would cover it 100% how could I not do it. It was a nice and quick process for me. I have already lost 20lbs in 2 weeks just from eating what they tell you to in the pre-op diet. I am looking forward to see how much more I can lose. Looking forward to getting to know some people on this page.

Congratulations!! How do you feel? Any pain? I am at the beginning of my process so I am curious about the surgery process. What was your operation day like?

Thank you! I do have some pain. However it is not unbearable.

Today I am 2 days post-op and I feel pretty good. I'm able to walk (like a little old lady). I am constanly doing laps around my house. I have been taking the pain meds right when I go to bed. I'm hoping I won't need to take them anymore, beacuse I am feeling pretty good right now. My surgery was not all that bad at all. I went in at about 10:40 a.m. and was in recovery by 1:20. It took a little longer than I thought it would.

The first time they got me up walking in the hospital I was extremely dizzy and lightheaded. Besure you have someone there with you at the hospital and also at home. I find it very hard to bend squat and get in and out of bed (my bed sits up pretty high so that doesnt make it any easier). I have little bit og gas pains but nothing to major. I'm hoping that by me walking a lot will keep the gas pains away.

Are you in the approval process?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
