I am 11 days post op and I am very happy with my decision to be banded. I have been fatigued and cold, but other than that great. My issue is that I keep getting choked up almost to the point of an all out cry! WTH is goin on with that? I am not assamed to cry for good reason but this has happened 5-6 times since surgery over stupid stuff!

I'm the same way, all it takes is something even slightly sad and I'm crying. You should have seen me last week at the end of the 24 finale, balling like a baby! I'm sure normally my eyes would have started watering alittle because I love that show but this was just crazy.

I wonder how long this cold, sleepy, emotional stage lasts...?

it took me about a month to stop feeling sad and strange. i started taking long walks during the morning and that really helped me, and if i wanted to cry, i'd cry until i felt better.

This can be a side effect of the anesthesia. Not sure how long it can last, but I would definitely say that is the cause. Good Luck.

A good cry is good for you. I was mourning my diet coke in those early days. I am STILL mourning my diet coke 10 months later. You are going through a huge change in your life it is normal to be emotional!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
