I have noticed that when people lose a significant amount of weight, even though they now have great bodies, they look like they've aged about 10 years. I've seen it in before/after pictures from people from Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, and even on this site. What causes this aging effect and does anybody know what can be done to minimize this effect?

I have noticed it too and worry about it lol. I think it is the fat filling in the wrinkles kind of like botox and when the fat is gone, the wrinkles have nowhere to hide.

Facial exercises during the weight loss process? Plastic Surgery? Not sure there is much to be done about it.

I'll wear my sunglasses and enjoy my body when I get it lol

I just read this to my husband and asked if I looked older, he said yes but he also said even with the saggy skin my body looks better than it did.

Losing a couple of chins may lead to crepey skin on your neck! I know which I'd rather have.If its really bad you can have plastic surgery. If the rest of the body has loose or wrinkly skin you can hide it under clothes and still look slim - something you can't do when you are hugely overweight.

Lets face it - fat is not attractive.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
