Pianoman 0 Posted November 22, 2005 I had my first fill the other day - 4.5cc's (apparently, my band takes a total of ten). Now, that only leaves me with 5.5cc of expansion. Could this represent a problem? Should I be concerned? Thank you in advance, Andy B P.S. On the positive side, I notice one-or-two people are worried about hair loss. Personally, before the band, I had less hair than a shaved egg, and I'm fully expecting no change:)

The rest of your fills won't be so hefty. You are off the a great start! How's the restriction? Are you still dong post-fill liquids? Take is slow as you ease into real foods. Good luck, Pianoman! I had the fill yesterday, so I'm on liquids for the next few days. They seem to be going down okay, I'm pleased to say. Not sure about bald being cute - However, it's better than some of the daft haircuts I used to have - you name it, I wore it! (the last "do" being a "comb-over", not a pleasant site). the best me 6 Posted November 22, 2005 Oh no, stay away form the comb-overs! Just cut it or shave it and be beautiful! Let us know what your restriction is like. You'll know more as you move off the liquids. Good luck!
Quilter Mom 0 Posted November 22, 2005 Pianoman, I had 4cc fill my first time and found it wasn't enough and I'm trying like crazy to get into the doctors for more. I've been told I have to wait 6 weeks so it's a struggle to keep the weight off and even to loose more. Good luck with your fill. Quilter Mom.
Ruthie 2 Posted November 23, 2005 my first fill was 4 cc's. I'm now up to 9.5. I finally have restriction (maybe a little too much) but I'm hoping this is the magic spot.
Quilter Mom 0 Posted March 29, 2006 I hope I find my majic level soon, I am becoming extremely frustrated
PhotoNut 7 Posted March 29, 2006 Inamed's recommendation for the first fill in a VG (10cc) band is 4cc. Check out this thread to see a chart on how the different amounts of fills restrict the stoma: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15216
niche 0 Posted March 29, 2006 pianoman, i would say don't worry about running out of room. i had 3cc's in (75%) and when i got another .4cc's up to 85% it was waaaaay too much. now i'm at 82% and it's great. but once you get closer to a good level, the smallest fills make a huge difference
Wheetsin 714 Posted March 29, 2006 4.5 isn't too much at all from what I've been told by others. And don't worry about only having 5.5 ccs of room to play with -- you still have more room "to play with" than what other bands hold at capacity.
Kelliebelly 13 Posted March 29, 2006 I had 2ccs put in the time of surgery. At 6 weeks he took me up to 4.5ccs. I never felt restriction till I got to about 7ccs and each time it would just disappear over a period of a week or so. I have now had 9 fills and I have 9.6ccs/mls in my band. I have great restriction and have had so for about 5 months. Dont worry if after this fill you find you have great restriction that just disappears in a week or so, it happens! Also our bands can take up to 12ccs safely if needed. Good Luck
