Hi everyone,

Hope you are all losing and feeling great! My surgery is schedule for June 14th and I'm not excited nor am I nervous. I'm completely apathetic. What is wrong w/me? (That's NOT a rhetorical question).LOL! It's kind of like I'm wondering, is this REALLY going to work for me? Is it REALLY going to happen?

I've lost 100 lbs on my own, TWICE! I know how to do it, I can't keep it off. Maybe it's because I know what lies ahead. My relationship w/food will change. It's been my friend and I'm anticipating the letting go part. Plus, I have PMS. Sorry, TMI I know. .just trying to keep it real! LOL! :Dancing_biggrin:

I've been on the pre-op diet since the 31st. It's cake. . (not that kind). I have: 1 Protein drink for Breakfast, 1 Protein Bar for lunch, 1 lean cuisine type meal for lunch, another bar for a snack and dinner is a lean cuisine again. Yet. .I have cheated. Not badly. . but not goodly. LOL!

Sigh. . so. . .seeing the Dr. for my pre op appt. tomorrow. Maybe some type of reality or excitement will kick in? Maybe I'll be rid of the horrid PMS! Thanks for listening guys. . !

I too have lost and gained (like many of us - I'm sure). I also was afraid it wouldn't "work" for me! But I'm happy to report that it is working great! Don't be discourage if it takes a while to get started. I lost 17 lbs before surgery (11/09) and then managed to gain 7 of it back before my first fill (about 8 weeks after surgery).

I've had 3 fills total and I'm around 7 cc of a 10 cc band and I'm now down 55 lbs. I also beleive I've hit that sweet spot that everyone talks about. I can pretty much eat whatever I want, just in very, very small amounts. I work very hard to get my daily Protein in first! My doctor told me from the very beginning that his goal was for me to be able to eat whatever I thought tasted good and lose weight and then eat whatever tasted good to maintain my weight. And so far it's working.

So hang in there and get excited! It works!

Maybe you are just going into this, seeing it as a tool, rather than a savior. There isn't anything wrong with that. i was like you. i know how to diet. i just was not willing to go into it again without some better hope of keeping it off.

Maybe your way is best. Surgery is a bit anticlimatic, because it isn't a magic pill as many seem to see it. So don't worry about it. My personal thoughts.

Thanks you guys! I really do appreciate the encouragement and insight. It helps a lot.

Missy ~ you are sooo right!! That is EXACTLY where I am! I am just not willing to do it all over again w/out the support/tool of the LAP-BAND®. I just don't have the drive or the energy. I know once I get "going", I'll do well. . . good point.

I met w/my surgeon today and he was great. I do feel more hope and looking forward to it.

Thanks tons!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
