Hello All,

I have my six month follow up coming up and I am trying to figure out whether I have actually reached my sweet spot or if I am just experiencing different foods that get stuck sometimes when I eat.

I have really needed to learn how to eat slowly and chew my food and the things they tell you to do and now that I have accomplished this I very rarely get food stuck. I was feeling pretty good but my doctor is going to ask me if I think I have reached my sweet spot and I just still am not sure what that is. Can anyone give me some ideas of how you know you have or not?

THAT is a good question. I had surgery a week after you did and since the and of March I am not losing any more weight. In fact, just staying steady at the 35 lb mark. Mind you, my diabetes is much improved, I feel better and have lost 52 lbs all together. I am in this for the long haul, but need to pick up the pace ( so to peak.) I have a follow up next week and I am not sure what to say to the doc. I have only had something stuck 3 times since surgery though I can certainly feel restriction higher up. WHat foods are you eating and what foods can you not eat? By the way, congrats on your fine success. :Dancing_biggrin:)

Mrs Beasly, I have been to tight and to lose so I'm pretty sure after my fill yesterday i am right at sweet spot. Before the fill at 4cc I could eat a burger on bun hotdog on bun and chips dip chewed up good of course. At 5cc I had a turkey Hotdog and four pringles and felt satisfied if i had anymore food I probably would have that hurt feeling in my chest. I did not even try a bun because i din't want to push it since I just had a fill yesterday. I did like most and had my cup of food three times a day and I was not losing so I started doing weight watchers I don't go to the meetings though I have books from the past and use them. I weigh in and chat with members on this board to stay focused. It has really helped me. MY dr was very pleased with my weightloss yesterday 56 pounds in six months. I do use the treadmill 3 times day for 30 minutes. I had been going to the gym for an hour just doing the eliptical and stairstepper and bike only but haven't went for a week. You've done a great job on your weightloss. I'm not real sure what I can eat since the fill i'll let you know in a couple of days. I love how I fill at the moment though.

SunneeHUNEE i HAVE BEEN SO TIGHT i get stuff stuck all the time and I have found thats actually to tight. It needs to be when you feel satisfied even if your mind still wants food your stomach feels kinda confy. Good job on your weightloss

Thanks Sunnee Congrats to you too!! I have gotten stuck many times but I believe that was eating to fast and eating food that was too dry, both I have tried to stop doing. I can't really make heads or tails to this pattern because one day I can eat scallops and they will get stuck and one day that will be fine.

Pork Chops are a problem for me.

But I don't know if my habits are the reason I get stuck, I can eat portions larger than a handful like my doctor says so I know I am not at restriction, but is that my sweet spot.

I also feel like you I am lingering around the same weight I was in March. Not much of a change at all and that is with exercise.

Thanks Skinny Girl. I appreciate your input and great job doing what your doing. I am so unsure of myself, and I am trying to learn as I go. I literally feel like I have had to learn to eat all over again. I realize I can talk to my doctor but I have all of about 15 minutes usually to discuss anything and usually feel rushed so I am doing my research now. I am starting to feel anxiety over this.

Thanks Again.

I had my lap band surgery 12/23/09 and am at 5cc in a 10cc band. I know that I'm not quite at my sweet spot but am losing steadily each month. I swim every day and that seems to help. Good luck and God Bless.

Diane

I'm at my sweet spot. I was banded on 11/16/09 and have lost 57 lbs so far! I have a 10cc band and I'm at 6cc. Since this last fill (4/28) I've lost at a rate of 2 lbs per week. I can only eat a third of a hotdog w/bun! I average about a 1/2 cup of chewed food per meal. I'm also work out 3 times per week - about 5 hours total.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
