Hi fellow Banders and about to be Banders. I was banded on 4/21/10 and have lost 27 pounds to date. Had my second fill 6/2/10 3 cc each time. I do not feel much restriction at this time. Sometimes it does feel like some foods get stuck and I have to stop eating. My surgeon was great, but I sort of feel that I was left in the dust. The only things that I have gained from MD support is to really chew the food and dont drink while eating. Not drinking while eating is actually the hardest habit to break since the banding. Has anyone else found not being able to drink while eating a difficult task?? I do at times get down on myself as I think I am still eating too much. It was easier for me to stick to the liquid diet pre-op. I dont know many people who have had the band that I am close with to gain support. My boyfriend is wicked supportive, but loves to eat. I am glad that there is such a message board for us to band together....pun intended.

I was banded on May 13th. Doing well down 32lbs. You r correct. The hardest thing is not to drink with your food. And then fitting in enough liquids for the day. I am on soft foods now and gettign bored of the same diet. Any suggestions.

I'm not banded yet, and not that this will really help you much now but maybe for other ppl that are reading this..i'm supposed to be banded in july but anyway, ive already started to not drink with my meals, its hard..I don't do it all the time, but i'm starting to so its something i can get in the habit of and at my pre op class they said you can have a small sip or two but just not a whole glass. just a little tip for ppl...start preparing yourself ahead of time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
