Thanks, Jennifer!

What a difference a few hours can make. It's now just past 8:00 pm and I feel like I've turned a corner. The pain is there, but tolerable. I even got dressed and drove to the grocery store (I sat in the car while my son picked up a few things).

Yipppee!!

Hope you continue to feel well and have great success!

I am 6 days out and I think final feeling better. Day 2 was fine then day 3 and 4 sucked. I even called the doctor because I though I should be feeling better the left sholder pain final is gone but my lungs were hurting! Taking lots of deep breaths, went on 15-20 min walks daily seems to be helping. I was worried about this quick pain that I get from my chest up to my thorat??? a bubble? I feel like I have caught up on my fluids now. liquid food is getting better,I do feel hungry now 1/4 cup of cream of wheat and Mashed potatoes then 2 4oz Protein Drink and my fluids thats it for the day. I am still not sure where my port is?? Does anyone know where they put them?? I have just sorness now. I know when I look back at this it will be the end GOAL that is important:thumbup: Thanks for listening!!

My port is on my right side, but I think that different doctors put them in different places. Your largest incision is where your port is. My pain has gotten a little better. Was feeling great this morning, but I think I over did it and now I am not feeling so hot. My port site is very tender and it is still difficult for me to go from a sitting/lying postion to standing up. I am feeling the bubble thing too, from my chest to my throat, but I have noticed it happens when I take to big of a drink. I am still very bloated and can tell I still have a lot of gas. I've been taking Gas-X and have been walking. In the next few days we will all feel like new people.

Thanks Sandy!

I found my port it is on the left side and it is tender more so than the others. I feel pretty good now a week out. I did hope I would be back to work but I get so tried! So I will go back on the 15th. I do have to tell myself that I can't do it all! I do feel that I am doing well with liquids but trying to get more Protein in!

Had my 1 week check up since my surgery on June 1st. All is great. Only took pain meds for about 3 days. Never had any gas pains, thank god! I'm so sorry for those of you that had to go through the gas and shoulder pains.

Doc says a have a very very small fill in the band already, and I'm to go back the 28th for a regular fill.

Bad news, liquids until then. Not even mushies, I was hopeing that I could at least do mushies after another week or so. But I'll survive. I will also do as he says. I always have and it's worked out real good so far.

How are other junebugs doing so far. Hope all is going well.

Carol

Hey I was banded a day after you and I just started feeling better about two days ago. No pain from my incisions but had horrible gas pains. I couldn't even finish a popsicle at first. But now that my gas is gone I can get a little bit more liquids in and I do get full off of very little. We'll see how it goes once all the swelling goes down

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
