Nicole74 4 Posted June 2, 2010 Hi All, I am going into surgery as selfpay and I could really use some advise/support from other people who have been selfpay and how that worked out for you and if you have regrets or issues with selfpay. My surgery is scheduled in August but I can't help but think what all I could do with 15grand! and I always wanted to get banded locally so Mexico really wasnt something I considered.
123crod 170 Posted June 6, 2010 I was self pay and my Dr. treats me just like everyone else. I paid $12,999 and that included a year worth of fills and all office visits for that year. I put mine on a credit card and am just paying it off monthly. My husband is from Mexico and I have spent many, many days down there and I would never consider going there for surgery things are just so different than here in the US. Even though it would be half-price sometimes you get what you pay for. I know it is hard but spend the extra money and have it done here in the States. I-wanna-be-a-loser 10 Posted October 24, 2011 I am a self pay in Canada. $17,000. We are paying with savings so no credit cards. I would never consider going to Mexico for cheaper prices, I want a canadian doctor and canadian support through this process. There are a lot of things you could but with the money, but happiness is priceless right!!!
aliciab 8 Posted October 24, 2011 I am self pay and all in all I will pay about $14,000 including pre-op testing. $14,000 is the price of a used car. Are you telling me that you feel like your life and health are not worth the price of a used car?
carymom 4 Posted October 24, 2011 I was self-pay - 10,000 plus the one year of fills - another 1,000. My insurance paid for all costs such psychologist, upper GI, EKG. I borrowed the money from my mother - who did not ask why I needed it. I have sense been able to pay her back. I am so glad that I had this done. I plan on it working as a forever cure for my obesiety.
