Right on, I also had my band put in by Dr. Huacuz and I feel the same way, he was very professional. It is good that you have posted this here, since there is some dissatisfied customers who have posted their comments here and tend to put a dark shadow on him. When was your band put in? I had mine put in on October 21 of this year.

Dr. Huacuz did my surgery also, I was banded on 8/30/05. I love him, he was wonderful. To my surprise this morning, I received a "Happy Thanksgiving" E-Card from him! What and absolute sweetheart and great doctor. He sends me e-mails regularly, but a card?! It was a nice surprise. If I wasn't married.......(joke)

Like wise, Dr. Huacuz performed my surgery and I would use him again in a heart beat. Both Dr. Huacuz and his assistant Dr. Romero are fabulous.

I was banded by Dr. Huacuz on 11/3/05 and am doing quite well! I no restriction but I also am NOT HUNGRY!!!! I timed it to see how long it would take me to get hungry. I did it twice. The first time it took me 8 hrs. The second time it took me 12 hrs. I know I have to make sure I eat 3 bandster meals a day. I have lost interest in food!!! How amazing is that??? I know that is what the band is supposed to do but I just had to say something.

Oh yeah, Dr. Huacuz is doing my follow ups and also he will be doing my fills. I can't say enough about how caring he and Dr. Romero have been. This has been a VERY good experience! They keep in contact with me by phone calls and emails. These guys are the best!

Oh my goodness.... like Antonio Banderas??!!! I already have a band but would not think twice to have a fill there, just to be able to see that handsome man ... :frown: (jk)

I am planning on having a mastopexy with Dr. Huacuz, probably in about 6 months. He has responded to all of my questions promptly- what an incredible doctor!

I know 2 people from Utah who have had Lap Bands with Dr. Huacuz, one was in the Masters of Education program with me and the other was a Reading Specialist at another school in the same district.

They both told me Dr. Huacuz is extremelly competent, they both have lost a lot of weight.

They have told me that the clinic is extremelly nice, they had people caring for them from the time they got there until the time they left.

I was married to a doctor before and I do not know how Dr. Huacuz finds time to be so thoughful to all of his patients in addition to performing his surgeries.

I am looking foward to having my mastopexy. I am married..... like Missy4gordon said, but my goodness... the man is so charming... I would probably pass out for a surgery, not even need anesthesia :frown:

When I am finally at goal I will be having my full body lift and breast augmentation done at his clinic. And yes, he is always prompt in his responses.

A friend of mind recently had the excess skin removed from her arms after losing 208#. When she went back to Georgia a wound specialist who saw her said that was one of the best jobs he had ever seen. She is healing well and can't wait until tank top season. I look forward to my turn!

My arms are what keep me from getting into the size blouse that fits he rest of my body. By the time my arms are small enough to get into the sleeves, the rest of the blouse will be way too big. Oh well....life hapens and we all have our issues.

I wouldn't go to him. Not a chance. Check this out, what she does not explain here is that Dr. Huacuz offered her $3,000 if she would not post this:

ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND® System, DS and Other Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options. - Profiles - Adrienne C's Profile

Sometimes that link works, sometimes it doesn't. OH is weird software. If it does not work you can go to Obesity Help - Weight Loss, Surgery, Support Groups, Forums, Surgical Procedures, search for members, search for Adee_baby and read her blog.

Its a good idea to do research on docs before making a choice. Do not just take one or 4 peoples word on it. Do your OWN research and make your OWN choice. this is a SURGERY not picking out a candy bar. I personally would not pick a surgeon based on the fact that he looked like Antonio Bandereas or Brad Pit for that matter . I know that was a joke but im just saying.

A good source for how to research docs is in Bubble Butts Thread.

Please ya'll Make an INTELLIGENT choice when having surgery , RESEARCH and do not believe EVERYTHING you read !!

I agree. Do your own research and make an intelligent choice. There will always be someone who is not happy with a doctor. There are many more then 4 people who are happy with Dr. Huacuz. I'm glad I did my OWN research and VERY happy I picked Dr. Huacuz.

I am more than happy to help.

I agree there is always someone who does not like something about their doc. Personally I can look past personality conflicts, disagreements in certain areas , you have to know what the plan of "care" is going to be for post op , you have to know what your pre op care is going to be AHEAD OF TIME. You have to know how things will be handled if complications arise , I personally , and this is just me could not look past a doc having such complications that the patient either died or almost died, IF there was not a valid explanation for it .

I have been in the medical field long enough to know things happen . But sometimes they dont just happen.

Bubble Butts Sig line has excellent info on research , she knows much more than I .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
