Off the wagon... on the wagon

Recommended Posts

So my weekend away was a bit of a disaster... I definitely ate things I shouldn't have (chips, pasta)... although I did do a lot of walking. So far no change on the scale and I managed to keep the 2 lbs I (finally) lost last week off. Even thought I don't know you guys I missed you! I missed the accountability to this board and I missed my food logging (I was out of the country so $$$ for using my phone).. So far today has been a little bit of a struggle. I did great for breakfast- Protein drink- lunch was veggie soup.. then I was stuck late at work and munched on some chex mix BOOO and had boneless chicken wings for dinner. I should have packed extra good stuff in case I was late! Lesson learned... protein shooter or something similar will be with me tomorrow. Anyways its great to be back and I hope June is a loser!!!

Your not alone - I just ate two normal sized slices of pizza and had quite a bit of vodka yesterday.....I've had one fill and I feel like I don't even have the band. I have not felt nauseous, vomited, PB'd or gotten stuck. It's as if it's not even there........ :-(

Happy from what I have read what you are going through is normal. Perhaps you are chewing and eating correctly which is why you are not getting the stuck? When I got stuck I was eating an omelet way too quickly and not chewing properly... usually eggs are no problem for me.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
