Great points. I think in some ways even though I had had a lot of counseling on the band, I looked at it like a magic wand that got waved, I felt bad a couple days and then looked like Cindy Crawford :-). Reality is setting in. It is a good reality and one I'm accepting with a smile, but it is still reality. Eating, exercising, taking care of myself are the three priorities :-).

It has been about 8 months since I got my band. Throughout that time, I have had times when I felt restriction. However, as I lost weight, that restriction would disappear. With my last fill, I finally know what people are talking about when they refer to the sweet spot. I now know what it means to leave half of the food on my plate. It is great! Yes, this has been a slow process. But on the way I have learned to eat more healthfully and to eat the right portion size. I think that it has been worth it and am confident that you will find that it has been worth it as well. But, as the previous writers have told you, the band is just a tool. You still need to diet but it makes it easier to do so. Good luck!

Please be patient. The more I read the more I am realizing that many people do not have the support and education of their medical team like I did. You'll get there. This is a process and it is different for everyone. I have been fine for three months now and all of a sudden my band was to tight last week. Go figure. No one knows why. It's all about really focusing on yourself, your band and your process. Keep up the faith. The lapband works. Good luck.

What are you eating? What are you doing for exercise? At this point, the band is not doing the job--you have to do it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
