What are you eating each day?

Recommended Posts

I need a little guidance with what to eat everyday. I was banded on 2/4/10 and I've lost 38lbs, but the last 3 weeks I have been stuck! Help! Suggestions please.

What are you eating right now mostly?? Have you had a fill yet? The first few months I ate a lot of sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, sugar free applesauce, Soups, Protein Shakes, or smoothies. I know it gets boring, but try a few things like fruits, and veggies and see what goes down. Your stomach might be a bit swollen still so be careful.

I try to drink 2 EAS Protein Shakes daily. I eat greek yogurt with the least amount of sugar possible. I sometimes add half of a crystal light package or the sugar free ocean spray light packets for sweetness and color. I love Sugar Free Chocolate popsickles. I like the regular sugar free ones too. I eat chicken, fish, hamburger and steak on rare occasions. I really don't eat red meat a whole lot. I eat salads. I chew all of these foods very well. I eat brocolli with a lot of my meals because I love it and it's soft. I sometimes have a small bit of rice (use caution with the consistency and they're carbs!). I drink plenty of crystal light and Water. I drink 1% or 2% milk, this cuts down on late night hunger sometimes. I allow myself something sweet with real sugar in moderation or chips every so often so I don't feel deprived. Ultimately, I do much better with my eating once I have a fill because I am not as hungry and I cannot eat as much. Hope this helps.

Ok if you can eat hamburger, chicken and steak, that means your band might need another adjustment. I'm not saying you will never be able to eat these things again, but it will take some time if you have another fill. My dr told me if I was able to eat those kind of meats, my band wasn't tight enough, and he adjusted me and it helped so much. Do stick to Protein Shakes, yogurt, etc. Remember to exercise as frequent as you can. I do 3-5 times a week and that helps me a lot. I started doing weights a few months back and I have seen inches come off!

Talk to your doctor about another adjustment and see what he/she says.

I disagree, my doctor and nutritionist said that you should be able to eat chicken and ground meats, if you chew them very well. And that it's also a good idea that you get your Protein from real food and only supplement with Protein Shakes. I think the biggest problem that people have is that they take too large of bites, they attempt eating dry meat (meats need to be moist and maybe with sauce) and don't chew their food well enough. I started with chicken and then tried ground turkey and burger. I am 4 months post-op and I was anemic....not getting enough Iron so I take Vitamins. I have had a few fills, and I enjoy meat! Goodluck to everyone!

I was banded on 2/10/11 and am on the soft meat stage. In 2 days i can go to regular foods. I eat a lot of eggs, chicken and lena greund meats. Turkey sausage is good too. Cooked veggies ( broccoli, squash, peas, carrots) and fruits. If I eat too many "sliders" (pudding, yogurt, jello) I get hungry too soon. I have lost 30 lbs and have not lost any in 5 days. But I know that untill I have a fill in a few weeks, it will prob be like that. EAS or Muscle Milk are good Protein supplements, but they dont keep you full as long. Do whatever your doctor says to do as far as eating is concerned, but know that if you get a good variety of thing, you will not get bored and be tempted to cheat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
