what do you do for exercise?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I have started a walking regimen. Today I went on a 40 minute walk that I think was around 2 1/2 miles. It felt really nice to be moving! I was wondering what kinds of things you guys do to help you lose weight? The scale has been stuck for me and I was hoping that getting moving picks it back up!

I too enjoy walking. I also like bike riding and weight lifting.

I hate to admit this but I don't do enough exercise. In the winter I use the Wii and thank god it's summer and got the pool open yesterday. Swimming is my choice of exercise.

I lift weights and take spinning classes. I'd add some walking too, but I hate when it's hot. This definitely isn't my season!

I was banded on 3/3 and joined Planet Fitness on 4/17 - about 6 weeks post-op. Now that I have been going, I have developed into kind of a gym nut. I try to go at least 4 times a week, if not more, for 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours.

I start out with 30 minutes on the treadmill - followed by 45 minutes or so hitting the weights and machinces. Then it's 30 minutes + on the elliptical.

For the treadmill, I am actually on the "Couch to 5k" program. I have NEVER been a runner at all in my life and this program is kicking my butt. But it feels great and I am starting week 5 tonight.

All in all - I usually burn 1000-1200 calories when I am there.

I take a Zumba class 3-4 times a week and use free weights 2 times a week. I also walk whenever I can.

Bicycle, some strength training and the gym when the weather sucks. (Love my bicycle! Thank you, hubby!)

I either do Hip Hop Abs or a Jillian Michaels workout DVD. If I don't get a chance to do that, I will go OnDemand (Comcast) and do the 1 or 2-mile walk for weightloss. It's awesome because it's a brisk power walk with other moves included, so it burns more calories than a standard walk outside.

I work out 7 days a week for about 2 hours a day. Mix of bike, elliptical, weights, and floor exersise(pushups, planks, etc...)

I mix it up with the following:

-running

-weight training/strength training

-yoga classes at the gym

-body conditioning classes at the gym

-bicycling

-swimming

I try to run 3-4 days a week, weight training 3 times a week, yoga once a week, body conditioning (which my friends and I affectionately call "torture class") once a week. I like to run one 5K a month. And I just started training for 10Ks! (I'm a graduate of C25K, and highly recommend it!)

Also, one of my friends has talked into a 65-mile bikeathon for the American Cancer Society in July. Woohoo! Busy training for that!

I do Pilates and I have just started the couch to 5k program (which I have done in the past, it is a good program but I got too heavy to continue on it)

Running, bootcamp and boxing. I like it pretty hardcore, walking's not my scene at all.

I love spinning on the odd occasion I can get to a gym too. But I really do love my bootcamp, boxing and running which are done outdoors (possible all year round in Melbourne).

This will my second time starting that couch to 5k program. I would be happy to complete week one without cheating.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
