Firecallie 2 Posted November 21, 2005 Day 4...ideas please!
Spydr 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I am a fan of Tomato Basil Soup from La Madeline. I make it very thin and strain it before eating. I also like Campbell's Mexican Fiesta cheese soup. These are options that make the liquid phase easier for me.
queenbeeoffour 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I'm making egg drop Soup tonight - can't wait to try it! I posted a recipe I found on another post this morning.
NJChick 3 Posted November 21, 2005 Are you on clear liquid or thicker liquids ?
Shari Lou 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I am on day 5. I havent had much of an appetitie (sp) and when I do eat my stomach doesn't act very happy to have anything in it. It burns. Here is what my menu has looked like Breakfast - Protein Powder in some soy milk lunch - chicken and rice Soup blended with lots of broth dinner - go-gurt(it is liquidy enough to go through a straw) snack - sf popcicle Lots of Water, green tea, Crystal Light, more water I tried sf chocolate pudding on day 3 and it was too thick after 1/3 of the cup I thought I was going to burst. I cant seem to get to 4 oz of anything yet. I only get about 2.5 down and then I am done.
Firecallie 2 Posted November 22, 2005 Thanks for the ideas. It is horrible, today I have had Water, a sip of a protien drink (and I litterally couldn't hold it down because of the taste) and this morning around 8 (watery strained chili 1/3 cup) that's all. This is horrible, I would rather not eat than have Soup right now (I hate soup) but I know that is not good for me and cannot do that to myself...now saying that and actually going and getting something to go in me are two different stories. *sigh*
NJChick 3 Posted November 22, 2005 If your having a hard time, maybe you could stick with Clear Liquids for a few days. juice, broth, ice pops, italian ice, crystal light drinks. Maybe the thick stuff is to much right now? I was on clear for 2 weeks and I'm glad now b/c it helped me go from one stage to another pretty easy. Hope you feel better !!! Firecallie 2 Posted November 22, 2005 Thanks for the advice. It's not that I cannot have it everything i've tried seems to go down fine, it's that I cannot STAND Soup anymore. And alternatives are not coming to me. Currently i heated up some spagetti sauce and am giving that a go so that's something I guess. Heaven knows I cheated on clear liquid phase (until day 3) I know I cannot cheat on this or I may damage my band.
Kathy473 1 Posted November 22, 2005 Try some herbal tea or coffee...it's something...better than nothing.
StephanieRaye 0 Posted November 22, 2005 Jini- I feel your pain on day 4! But I've noticed that when I try something thicker, I get the hiccups or feel extremely sick/full fast. I have to eat sooooo slow. My head hunger is really getting to me too. Oh well... it's a learning process. Today I had: 1 cup of coffee Isopure drink (tried cream of wheat, but it was too thick and I lost interest after 2 bites) Campbell's "Soup at hand" Cream of broccoli- I only got down half of it About 1/2 cup of pureed potato Soup About 1/2 cup pureed refried Beans mixed with milk And I'm stuffed- but my head hunger won't give. Good luck- let me know what you're eating and we can share ideas
banded_for_life 2 Posted November 22, 2005 For your protien drinks, don't what kind you are drinking, but for me, I got GNC's 100% whey in chocolate carmel and then boosted the flavor using skim milk, tablespoon of ffsf banana pudding. Tasted great and I never had a problem getting it down.
queenbeeoffour 0 Posted November 22, 2005 I had the egg drop Soup last night and it was soooooooo good. Last day of full liquid diet! Ready for some blended Soups - potato sounds good. I know that I am really tired of "drinking" my meals.

Hi there, I am frustrated , day 4, and still no relief from diarrhea. I am on clear liquids, imodium finally last night, only helps so it is not every 10 minutes, but all Water. I know what goes in makes sense, but I don't see much written about constant and what I am wondering until Dec 6 when mushy comes in. Any comments, if this is how it is to be, (diapers !?) I am on Protein drinks, Water, some Soup, Jello, popsicles, plenty of water too. I have had broth, but nothing heavy enough to help the gush...Sorry but it is the truth. Not feeling bad except for this. rumble all the time. Left message at office and no answer, now they are gone until Mon. I have heard from some that this is normal, but I don't hear any more. I even thiught everyone has this and it is just accepted. If so I can, but I wondered what you thought and your experioence has been. Waiting paitently,Debra Update, Just got of phone with on call Dr. said to get acidolphlis , and if not better check on Monday for infection. so I guess it is not normal. Hoping for some relief with acidol(sp?)...they shall test on Monday, bad to have to wait until then, but nothing that can be done.
guile 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I was banded December 1st and am currently on strained creamy Soups, Jello, sf pudding, oatmeal etc.. On Saturday (Dec. 10th) I went to a Christmas party with my wife and cheated real bad. I ate 3 crackers, 3 small cubes of cheese and a very small meatball. Since I did that I have had very loose bowels and the left shoulder pain has come back. My question is, is it the food I ate causing it or is it the liquid diet? I hope I didn't do any damage in my moment of stupidity. I'm definitely not going to try to rationalize what I did.I never would have thought that I would feel both embarrased and disappointed for eating something so small. Jachut 487 Posted December 12, 2005 Day 5 for me too, I was on clear liquids for day 1 only until my barium swallow and for part of day 2. Since them my routine has included: Optifast shake blended with fruit and yogurt for Breakfast mid morning - my soluble Vitamin and Iron lunch - either another Optifast shake or egg flip blended with fruit throughout the afternoon I fit in a glass of prune juice and a glass or two of V8 dinner - Soup blended with skim milk, still working on pumpkin and leek, will make up some vege soup tomorrow, might make up some meat broth today to get some Protein into it. I'll also fit in a cup or two of coffee and plenty of Water - about 1 litre. Its taking a lot of work to get through that but I'm managing, MUCH tighter today though. I've just finished the shake I made at 7.30 am almost 3 and a half hours ago.
