Been here a week already :)

So I guess it's a good time to introduce myself.

I've started a blog (On the road to being fit...again.) which I hope will help keep me on track

I haven't booked an appointment yet because we're going away for the entire month of July and I'm looking at the calendar for August but hopefully it will be the second week of August.

I'm hoping to lose 140lbs and stay healthy and happy for myself, my hubby and most of all my daughter. I don't want her to lose her mummy before she's even a teenager.

Thanks for reading

cheers

Just wanted to welcome you! I looked at your goal and I will tell you goals are great for keeping on track but if you set them high and don't allow enough time to reach them it could set you up for failure. It could be done I suppose but expecting a 140lb loss by New years and you haven't been banded yet is pretty harse. I'm not trying to discourage you I wish you all the best and am glad you are joining us but don't want to see a post from you in the near future about how the band isn't working. We see that way too often Maybe you could just give yourself a little more time on that goal and set a mini goal for New Years like say half of that. That would be totaly doable and will make you feel great when you hit it. Anyway I hope I don't sound to negitive because that's surely not my intentions. The band is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I'm sure you'll do fantastic. Welcome and hope to see a lot more post from you on your progress.

Kim

ohhhh no - not THIS new years.

we are planning a 2011 New Years cruise not 2010.

goodness i wouldn't even think 70lbs is doable for this new years.

plus 140 is my total goal. i don't actually have a goal for the new years cruise.

as long as i keep losing i'll be happy and when i reach 165-175 i'll buy new clothes as my reward.

used to be a treat of the candy kind - guess i'm learning

thanks for your concern though i should have made myself more clear.

I'm still confused, We already had New Years 2010 the Next New Years is New Years 2011 which is 6mo. from now right? Do you mean 2012?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
