Firecallie 2 Posted November 21, 2005 I am 4 days out of surgery and feeling GREAT (yay!) but now once again my head has gone to food. It's a bad habit that I need to get out of. What's for lunch what's for dinner ect. It's like it is the main event of my day (my days off anyway). I'm not hungry...I know this but I cannot change my thinking. Ideas, solutions? NJChick 3 Posted November 21, 2005 No, sorry. I did the same thing and I still keep doing it. I mean its only natural to think about what your going to cook/eat. But I think what we will learn is not to obsess over it like before. Good luck

the best me 6 Posted November 21, 2005 The head banding is sooo the hard part. it's natural to go to thinking about food alot since your diet has changed so much and you are learning a new way. it will settle down alot as the weeks go by and you start eating real foods. You will be amazed at how much less you worry about food when you can actually eat it and you don't really care about it! The hard part for me has been not eating, losing weight, and my body making me hungry for the calories it needs to maintain my weight. What has helped me (months down the road as I figure this out) is to be sure to EAT!! so the hunger doesn't sneak up on me and I find myself ravenous...even though just a bit will do me. It's weird, but you'll get it figured out. Your body and your brain do a little dance together. You just have to learn to monitor well to be sure the right one "leads". queenbeeoffour 0 Posted November 21, 2005 Your body and your brain do a little dance together. You just have to learn to monitor well to be sure the right one "leads". This is so true! I was were you are today about two days ago. I was sick too, so miserable all around. I made myself re-read everything that the nutritionist gave me and told myself I had to stick to it. Had a glass of Water and went back to bed! Today is better and I am determined to make this a success. I spent a lot of time last night reading over recent and older posts. The wealth of knowledge and experiences here is so wonderful. This is great group of people to be associated with! I'm going to my doctor's support group meeting tomorrow night and have my 10 day follow up on Wednesday, so I hope to be making some advancements over the next few days. kimalicious 5 Posted November 22, 2005 I still do this, I am completely obsessed with food. Completely obsessed. I should probably go see a shrink about it, but right now my band is helping/ I am obsessed I tell you...hehehe. It gets better I promise, but only a little for me so far. terri b 0 Posted November 22, 2005 I have found that I need to learn to deal with the emotions. I was a emotional eater, eating when I am sad, happy, stressed out etc. It was so easy then, all I had to do was reach for the ben and jerrys, chips, Cookies or whatever else I could find. I think this is going to be my biggest challenge. What do you do instead of eat???? Maybe I need a hobby.
Teresita 0 Posted November 22, 2005 Bleh don't worry about it, that's a good thing. You should pre plan that way you make better choices. Over time it could possibly go away, like Jack said pre occupy your mind with other things.
