How do you feel about "born-agains"?

Recommended Posts

Well, the churches view is wrong. My interpretations are correct. Anyone in the world can read that scripture and know the truth. "There is ONE mediator". How much plainer and simpler can God say it for you? Yet, people will argue till they are blue in the face to defend what they have been taught by that denomination. I don't get it. Why would anyone want to talk to a dead person when they can go straight to God himself through his son, Jesus anyway?

I feel more comfortable around women!

The same could be asked of you Patty.

There is such a load of airy fairy claptrap on this thread it's unbelievable.

I think the point about Born Again Christians has been proven - many times over. They are incredibly annoying.

Agree 100%!

Also, if your talking about the poor old lady who had her husbands body exumed(and other relatives)and kept in her living room, ashe was lonely! If you live to 80-90 you have no choice but to talk to dead people, more than likely your friends are dead!

Dont ask, I dont even know what the hell Im talking about!

PattyGreen:

When someone says, "It's not about the money." It is about the money. The defense of your deep seeded prejudice is equally transparent. Your final statement is literally "damned out of your own mouth" as you re-arrange and selectively choose what you agree with. This is your motis operandi -- sort of costco Christianity, sampling and deciding what you like and don't like.

In short and to no one's surprise from your insulated vacuum built of insecurity and predigested homilies, you miss the point -- you don't get it. There is no room for growth when your mind is closed. Matthew 13:1-13:23

So I shall shake the dust off my sandals and move on.

Why are these threads posting the wrong people when you hit quote? We had this problem before. I don't know how it was corrected but the LAST thing I want is for any quote by pattygreen to be credited to me. Like in post #91 above. That red quote is not by me, it is by pattygreen.

Do you, by any chance, know how to post your words the way you would actually talk to someone? Or, is this how you actually talk: "In short and to no one's surprise from your insulated vacuum built of insecurity and predigested homilies, you miss the point." Really??!! WOW! Bye now.

[Cleo'smom quote] You're the expert and the pope's wrong? Far more people believe him than you. Just because you studied something doesn't mean your interpretation is the correct one.

You are mistaken about this. 52% of all Christians are protestant and don't believe the Pope at all. Only 24% of all Christians are Catholic who believe him. I guess more people are reading the bible instead of taking another mere human's word for what God has to really say.

There are about 593 million protestants in the world and I know they don't all believe your interpretation of the bible is the correct one. I was just reading in the paper about a protestant denomination that is considering allowing gay couples in committed relationships to be clergy.

There are over 1 billion catholics in the world. Under the pope.

The pope is just a human being, like you or me, appointed by other human beings to pretend he is more important in God's eyes than any of the rest of His creation. He's not. The Catholic denomination of Christianity will have quite some answering to do before God when they stand before Him one day, I believe. Notice that I didn't say they wouldn't be in Heaven. Those who truly asked Jesus to save them will be there. But those who pretend will not. I know all about this, for I used to be Catholic, before I really found Jesus and became born again. I went to thier church and to Catechism, and went through all the formalities they say are required for Heaven. (infant baptism, holy communion, confession, confirmation, etc.) THEN, I read the bible and began to study it. I felt completely decieved by the Catholic church once I read the truth. I left that denomination and found one that is closer to the truth. For no denomination is perfectly aligned with the word of God. But many are much, much closer than the Catholic church to teaching truths, IMO.

Patty, I'm not sure you would appreciate my input.

I'm not a fan of the stereotypical born-again. They're usually the foam at the mouth type of Christian. The pick and choose from the Bible type of Christian. The "you're going to hell for this, this, and this" type of Christian.

Not really a fan. :grouphug:

But that wasn't your original point, which I accurately refuted. Your point was that there were more people who believed your version of the bible than the catholic (pope) version. That isn't so.

And once again - your arrogance is staggering. The catholic denomination will have some answering to do when they stand before God? Wow!!

I am not defending the catholic church. I believe the male hierarchy have been wrong about a lot of things. The history of the catholic church is fraught with corruption and it continues today. But that is different from saying that how they have interpreted the bible will make them have a lot of answering to do while you and yours will just pass on through.

Please don't ever make any more references or cut and paste neocon op-eds about Obama's modesty or lack thereof until you look at your own arrogance.

The example that you use is of a woman who has mental health issues and therefore, is NOT your typical born again Christian.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
