I really don't care what other people think about me having this WLS. It was my decision and I had medical reasons why. Having the band is not a cure to all your problems. You still have to eat healthy and exercise. The alerts me of my limitations, without the band I had no limitations. I would eat and eat and eat. I know I have come a long way and I thank God for that. I don't eat half as much as I use to. My only thing now is working out on a regular basis. I'll work out good for a week and it never fails, something always comes up that prevent me from going to the gym but no excuse...I could workout at home even if it is for only 15 - 30 minutes a day.

I told only a few people and i wish I hadn't. It is your body and your decision. You get to choose. Don't feel guilty or like a liar.

Thank you everyone. I do tend to tell people outside of work but for some reason within work I shy away from telling them. I know the word could get out from the few that know at any moment but I guess I'm just praying when and if that happens people won't lash out at me and be upset. I really don't think I have an unfair advantage with being in the contest. Most of the people in the groups are either right about my size or smaller. And the ones that have told me how they have done have lost more weight than me so far too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
