1st fill a week away!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 4/28/2010, I took 4 weeks off work because I work in a remote area in Alaska. My surgery went good and other than the hiccups and sneezing I really didn’t have much discomfort, a little bloating pain but not bad by any means.

I didn’t want to have a fill then run off to work in case of something going wrong. (like I said I’m working in a remote area). Any way last week I started taking my meds with out crushing them and I have started taking in solid food., mostly chicken and some veggies.

But now I’m getting hungry between meals and my weight loss has dropped off. I had lost 25 lbs and over the last week I have maintained that loss plus or minus a pound. I understand that I had a lot of fat built up around my stomach and that my opening is probably bigger now that the fat is gone. BUT another week before I make it back in for my first fill.

I’m not really complaining, just sharing and I’m wishing my life away wanting to get the fill.

On another note my clothes are a lot looser:thumbup:

Congrats on the clothes fitting looser!!!!! YIPPPPY. I had my surgery May 3rd so I am right behind you, please let me know how your fill goes so scared of that needle. That is a great weight loss I am only down about 12lbs so I haven't lost that much but my clothes are alot looser as well so don't know if I am losing inches, I work out at least 4 or 5 times a week so I am hoping to see some pounds drop!!! GOOD LUCK AGAIN!!!

I am right there with you! I had my surgery on 4/29 and my first fill is on June 1. I can't wait because like you I can tell that I can eat more and I don't want to do that!!!!

Yeah it seemd like as soon as I could eat solid foods I started getting hungry.

And there is little doubt that roasted chicken tastes better than baby food chicken. :o

Isn't it funny how that worked out. When I was on broth and liquids I didn't seem to have this problem! But wahoo, watch out world cause next week, I will be back on track!

I was banded on April 28th and since I started my preop diet have lost a total of 31 lbs. I get my first fill on June 8th and am ready for it. I really feel no restriction at all right now but am making every effort to eat sensibly. I have been doing more physical work every day and am trying to get on an excercise program. Good luck with your fill.

Good luck with your fill as well.

I know what you mean about no restriction, but there must be sum because I do notice that if I don’t chew well it hangs up until I get some Water to help wash it down.

I have always been a fast gulp your food down eater, I do need to learn to slow down.

Congrats to all of you. Just be aware your first fill may not provide restriction. It is very common for it to take several fills. Took me 3. However, you are well on your way! Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
