Im back home with a LEAK!!

Recommended Posts

Well I guess now I know why I have not been able to lose much weight.. I always thought it was strange that after a fill 2 days later I felt the same as if I never had a fill at all. I just thought that there were air bubbles or something in the tubing causing this. Anyway Friday after a hard painfull fill he just about put 6 or more ccs in.. and nothing the Water went down fine. It didnt hit me much until my Dr. hung his head down and sighed.. I got tears in my eyes when he said you have a leak. My Dr. thinks it happened on one of the fills when he was trying to locate my port and probably stuck the tubing near the port with the needle. He puts the blame on himself. He also told me that more then likely insurence will not cover a revised port but he will really really work with me since this was his fault. So that was nice of him... He also said that I sould have lost more weight then I have. So I guess those nights I sat and cried and cried thinking I was a failure.. was really worthless because it wasnt really my fault.

Im looking at a revision sometime in Dec. after this Semester is over and before the next one starts.

Next problem.. You know how I have been talking about sharp pain near my stomach area? The pain was so bad I would have to sit and rub my tummy over and over.. it felt like somthing was ripping... Well He is thinking.. we are not sure yet, but he thinks it could be a Herrnia (sp?) Well that would explaine the pain.. but How would I even get one.. thats got me thinking. I guess While he is in there doing my Port Revision I will have him take a look at that area with the pain and he will know what is it from there.

I just want to be fixed.. Im not scared or even regret my band. I still love my band and I have lost 50pounds because of it. So im still in high sprits. I know this is all going to work out. Thank you all for listening to me!!!

Ahhh, so glad you have answers!! ANd it's all FIXABLE!!!! I know it's a pain. I'm no insurance person, but they really should cover the repair. When your band requires that type of maintenence (needles near port tubing) it just goes with the territory. They really should pay!! I wouldn't worry. Doc will get you all fixed up.

How ill they know if it's a hernia? Can they do some kind of sonogram or something? Or will the doc just be ready to fix it if it's there while he's replacing your tubing? AND, will the doc replace the port, too? or just the tubing? Just wonderin. If that port's all healed in nicely, it seems a shame to have to remove it. I'm fairly certain the tubing is detachable on both the band end and the port end, right?

Wow Trish. Chin up, you are not a failure! A LOSER maybe, but not a failure! Here's to your 50 pounds gone!!! (((hugs)))

Kathy, Im not even sure how they will tell if its a hernia, I am hoping when he goes in and sees something he will fix it then.. He is a hernia Dr. too so I guess thats helpfull. Yes Im getting a new port.. My Dr. says that the leak is there in the port area, so I dont think he will be replacing any of the tubing.. from what I understand.. Im also having him move my port lower... right now it is right under my rib cage and sometimes it hides up there and rubs on my ribs and boy does that hurt!! I really hate having to replace the port since that is the one thing that hurt the most after surgery.. I couldnt get out of bed by myself and it was even hard drying and using the bathroom alone.. now I have to go thourgh it all again...

Im really trying to keep my head up about this... it is just hard to do, I want to cry but I have to look at the good parts of it all.

IM GOING TO MAKE THIS BAND WORK FOR ME IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO!!!!

(((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) everyone thank you all so much! Its great to have friends that can understand me.

Trish, this may be a hassle but imagine how much worse it could be. This is small beans! You'll be fixed up, better than new, and with no more hernia pain to boot. Keep on truckin'!!!

I'm so glad that it is something that the doctor can fix. And I'm also happy to hear that he admits it's his fault, and that he is willing to work with you financially on it because it's his fault. Not many doctors are willing to admit their faults, let alone work something out financially because of it. You truly have a good doctor there. You are blessed.

I'm so happy that he figured out the problem and that he is going to fix you all up now. Sending you some big hugs from here, and I'll be keeping you in my prayers that everything will go nice and smooth for you too.

Lots of Love

Poor Baby! I hate that you're going to have to go through the repairs, right here at Christmas too. BUT, I'm disappointed you didn't come here instead of crying and thinking you were a failure. That's what we're here for, come cry on our shoulder, know we're here for you!

I wish you the best, you're such a wonderful person.

How consoling is this? knowing that a slow weightloss hasnt been your fault.

You are gonna be fixed up and skinny before we know it!

so, if he can determine that it IS a hernia before you go in - couldn't he bill the insurance company for the hernia repair and throw the port revision in for free while he is in there? He could at least bill the insurance company this way if he opens you up and finds that it is a hernia....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
