I was banded on 12/21/09.

Had my second fill this past Friday.

I've only lost a little weight and I'm starving all the time!

How do you know if your band has slipped?

I wonder if mine slipped if that is the reason why I'm constantly hungry?

Banded 3-3-10. Weight loss was slow until second fill, which seemed to "take." I have gradually been adjusting to new ways of eating and have not put serious restrictions on myself since those always backfore on me. PB 3-4 times, pain from overbites more often- my own dumb fault when I get to thinking about something else and subconsciously return to old bad habits of gulping my food or (horrors) taking a sip of soft drink during meals. Ouuuch.

Down 26 pounds, 58 pounds to goal.

I've now been banded 6 months and I've lost 73lbs. I went for my 6 month follow-up last week and my doc said that around this time he orders an upper GI for all of his band patients to make sure that everything's in place and looks good. I'm at 4.5 restriction level, so he won't give me any more fills until we make sure everything's ok. Fingers crossed. Regarding recognizing a slip, my doc explained that generally you can't keep anything down when you've had a slip. This includes, liquids or worse case your own saliva. All in all, the only sure fire way to tell is to have an x-ray. So if anyone thinks they might have a slip, don't hesitate to call your doc immediately and have it checked out. Like with anything, early detection is best before any major complications arise.

Best,

Lauren

I was banded May 1, 2009. Have lost 110 pounds and really the only problem I've had is acid reflux issues. Those were brought on from my love of spicy and acidy foods though. So pretty much, my own fault! Other than that, I've felt great and am so happy! Would do it all again in a second! The best thing that I've ever done for myself!:smile2:

I would talk to your doc! You definately shouldn't be hungry! Are you eating every 3-4 hours? I haven't been hungry at all since my surgery, May 1, 2009! And I've lost 110 pounds. I'm so sorry that you're not having a better experience with your band. Hopefully things will turn around soon for you! Good luck!:)

I was banded on 7/10/09 and have no regrets at all! This was the best thing I could've ever done for myself. I've lost so much weight and am more energetic and am starting to feel more outgoing and do things with my husband. I haven't really had any problems with the band and I just love it! I would do it again in a heartbeat! :(:smile2:

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
