IV site pain

I'm 4 days post-op and I'm having some pain where my IV was.....is this normal? Anyone else experience this?

It's very normal. The crap that they push for anasthesia and the pain medicine can irritate the lining of the vein and it can hurt llike hell for a few days or sometimes even weeks.

Ice it for the first week and then heat and it should start to feel better.

I used to work in an ER and had that issue come up quite often!

I was banded six months ago (today!!!) and still have a lump from the IV site. It hurt until about a month ago, unfortunately.
