When does PB/vomiting become bulemia?

Recommended Posts

But I've made it a habit of eating the wrong things several times a day and then throwing them up when it causes pain (i.e. bread).

I wouldn't call this bulimia, although it is a very bad habit to get into. Bulimia is a mental disorder that generally involves binging and purging.

It just sounds like you've decided that you are going to eat that piece of bread because it tastes good and you've found a way to deal with the fact that your body no longer is able to process it.

You either need to get an unfill to the point where you can eat bread (even if it means that you can now eat in quantity again)...or start teaching yourself some new behaviors.

I tend to overeat at least twice a week and have become very adept at forcing it up and out when I get stuck.

My surgeon got pissed when I told him this. He said if I keep it up, it is only a matter of time before I am on his operating table to have a slip corrected.

I guess when you push enough, you end up pushing some of your lower stomach through the band and that is what a slip is.

I am also PB'ing and vomiting. It doesn't happen every day...maybe 2 - 3 times a week. I don't do this intentionally. I think I am too tight, but after 10 months with no restriction I am hesitant to call my Dr. I had my last fill under Flouro and don't want this to end up being a waste of time and money. (I had to beg my Dr. to do it under flouro.)

I believe slowing down and taking smaller bites help. I also try not to let myself get too hungry.

I don't work during the summer and will return on Monday. After meals I get real LOUD and deep hiccups - Anyone have suggestions?

I have noticed that many people who get the band do not deal with their food issues. They expect the band to do it. These are often the ones who end up in serious trouble. The subconsious mind will sabatage us no matter what if we don't deal with the underlying causes of obesity. You should consult a professional and you should get a small amount of Fluid taken out of your band until you are mentally ready to deal with it... Hugs!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
