Can you totally Tone your body after loosing 50lbs+?

Recommended Posts

I know everyones body is different...but has anyone totally tightened their body by working out after loosing a lot of weight. So Far I have lost a little over 20 pounds. My arms are horrible. Ive always worked out and never had so much loose skin because Ive never lost this much weight this fast. Just wondering if I can fix the loose skin by continuing to excersice. I have about 40 or 50 more pounds to loose and just would like to know so that I can be motivated to continue to being dedicated and working out hard especially if i know its going to work in helping me tone. I know a lot of people go for surgery after loosing a lot of weight but I would love to not have to go through another surgery if I dont have to.

Hmmmmmm......, no I suspect not, depending on factors such as age and also what you call reasonable tone.

My avatar photo looks OK, yep, I lost 100lb and I dont have a hanging belly or bat wing arms. I didnt end up with a lot of lose skin.

But I am VERY fit and I just dont look it. I am "soft" for want of a better word. Nothing I do will ever get rid of that last amount of flab for a washboard stomach, toned legs etc. I cant wear things that grab at the waist, or I get a bad muffin top, I suffer bad VPL, lol because my flesh is soft, same deal with falling out of the bra cups. That's as much loose skin as I have but its annoying.

And I just dont want to wear Spanx every day. C'mon, its a GIRDLE and I'm not a grandma! I refuse to wear those garments, they're hot, uncomfortable and tight.

So whilst you can certainly have a great result and not need PS (I certainly dont) there will probably be a few residual signs of your previous weight, but hopefully they'll be ones only you will notice. Everyone else wonders what I'm talking about when I complain - the old skinny chick complaining she's fat!

Jachut, I saw your pics and you look amazing!!! Congatulations! Im not one to want to wear a bikini, just want to feel comfortable in my clothing and feel healthy and toned. Have always been heavy but pretty much fit so not necesarilly used to a ton of skin-except my legs....I do have big legs. But thanks for the motivation!!! I will keep on working out and do what I can.

I too am worried about extra flab but don't really believe that it will go away. The inner thighs, the bat wings, i'm hoping that since my start weight wasn't extremely high that I won't be left with too much skin. I was much lighter when I had my daughter 18 years ago and my stomach never recovered. Unfortunately I think the reality is; is that if we get to a high weight we are a bit stuck with the excess skin. From the photos I've seen some people look more toned than others and it's an unfortunate reality. While photos show a great reduction in weight they also show excess skin. I would think that exercise should be of some help.

lol

This is definitely one of the areas where your mileage may vary... I think you just have to do the right things and hope for the best outcome. Remember, your skin has great elasticity and is mostly Water. Keep it well hydrated inside and out. Toned musculature beneath will give it the best appearance possible. And ladies, don't worry that strength training is going to give you big man-like muscles... Very few women possess the chemical make up to do so.

Thanks for all the great responses. I will continue to work out as hard as I can. It makes me feel great anyway whether in the long run I end up with the physical appearance I wish for or not.

I was close to the weight range as you Cynthia when I started and have about 45 lbs left to lose as well and my arms are awful too, can't stand it and I am at the gym everyday. Now I am only 5 weeks out but still I can see a difference everywhere else but the arms!!!!!!! Let me know if you find something that works good for you.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
