What does it feel like when your band slips?

Recommended Posts

What does it feel like when your band slips? I got stuck last night and threw up. Then I ate a few crackers later on in the evening and I had a strong pain in my upper right stomach (a little below where my band is) Then this morning I ate a little bit and I had the same pain. Both times I had to throw up the food to make the pain go away.

Do you think it slipped?? I would love to know what it feels like if it does slip. I don't want to go and have another surgery and have my band loosened!!

Thanks!

The telltale sign for me was when I drank Water. The water just sat and wouldn't go down. Also I had quite a bit of reflux at night. Finally I had some chest pressure. It is not easy to slip, chances are you didn't.

Hopefully you can keep down fluids. Call your doc. immediatley if you can't. As long as fluids are going down, I don't think it slipped.

My band recently slipped and I had to have it removed. I agree with the previous posters - if you can keep down fluids, that's a good sign. What the docs first told me was that my stomach could have been iritated from vomiting so they suggested all liquids for a few days to let the inflamation go away. In my case it didn't help, but I hope it helps you. But you should trust your own instincts and call the dr asap if something doesn't feel right.Good luck!!

I had a slip, too, and had to get it removed. You can read some of my posts, if you'd like...already discussed this on another thread. But I will tell you, I had back pain (common), and puddling of Fluid in my throat due to unability for all fluids to go down. Be VERY VERY careful. Call you doctor and tell them all your symptoms and be honest. The more honest you are, the more they can help you. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
