Fed BCBS Co-pay for Fills

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a question regarding federal BSBS insurance. I just recently learned that my co-pay for fills are now $100.00 and was told that this became effective 1 April 2010. It was $30.00 before and now $100.00. They told me that they had to bill it the same as surgery. If you have fed BCBS, please tell me what your co-pay is? I want to know is this across the board or is this something that my doctor office is only doing and if it is, I will be finding me a new doctor.

Thanks all!

I also have fed BCBS. But I get 6 months worth of fills for free with my doctor. Next month will be six months so I will find out and let you know. That is horrible if it is correct! This insurance is usually really good so that's hard to believe.

Call your insurance. This should NOT be billed the same as surgery. From your post, I am lead to believe that the doctor's office billed this incorrectly. Call and confirm with your insurance company.

freebird..i called the insurance company and they told me that the dr can decide to bill it as that if they choose to..it is up to the dr office to decide which surgery code to use..so my co-pay is 100. i have been looking for another surgeon in dallas to do my fill...i refuse to pay 100 for fills...that is ridiculous

oh it is true..i wish it wasnt...i was due a fill, but i told them that was to rich for my blood...i had to pay 150 out of pocket for my barium swallow...i was hotter than a firecracker...but the lady said that people have to pay up front and then they will bill the insurance company and will refund the difference once the insurance had paid...i live in dallas -so i am searching for a new dr...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
