I was practically pain free for 5 weeks post op,then last Tuesday I started feeling discomfort(I will not call it pain). It varies from day to day, hour to hour. Some days it is pain in my sternum, some days it feels like a stitch in my side, some days it feels like indigestion( I have no restriction!). Am I always going to feel like this?? I did talk to my dr, he said to double dose on Prilosec for the weekend. Did that and felt better, but today it did not seem to help!I am back to square one with pain on my left side radiating to my right. I have decided to go back to liquids for the next few days. Maybe something I ate at some point made me swell??I have no acid reflux that I know of and it is very difficult to burp... And tomorrow I will call the office!!

Have you had your gall bladder out? That's exactly the feeling I had when I had gall stones before I had to have it removed a couple years ago.

Yup and it's very common in people that have lost a lot of weight quickly or have been overweight for a while.

I know my pain was really bad when I ate something rich, steak, potatoes, creamy stuff and it would last for hours. By the time I had it removed, the surgeon said I had like 20 pebble-sized stones in there. I just got banded a couple weeks ago but at least the gallbladder is one thing I won't have to worry about.

Good luck on your surgery! I had a really good experience - relatively painless and easy. I was back at work in like 2 days, no problem, so hopefully yours will go well too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
