Does weight loss speed up once you hit restriction?

Recommended Posts

I am wandering because I am in a wedding this coming October, and I have to get fitted for my dress soon. I have had two fills, and I have lost 10 lbs. in between my first and second fill and 8 lbs. so far in between my second and third fill. I go tomorrow to get my third fill.

Will that weight loss stay the same once I hit restriction or could it speed up? I know everyone is different, but I'm afraid my dress will be to big since I don't know what I will be like come October. If I lose 10 lbs. per month that may be another 40 lbs. I have lost by then. I don't know what to do.

It depends on what you eat, how you eat, and exercise.

It depends. I have eaten as though I have restriction all along---same portions, same rules. I am approaching restriction (very close), but only notice a spike in loss when I've had to stick to liquids for a day or so post-fill.

There's not much difference in rate of loss. There is a HUGE difference in the way I feel, in terms of hunger.

If you're losing 10 pounds a month, it sounds as though you're eating as if you have restriction even if you don't. Your rate of loss is at the upper end of what is expected post-banding, so I am not sure I would expect a greater rate.

The bridal shop people will be able to guide you in terms of size; they are very knowledgeable about dress sizing, how much alteration a dress can tolerate, and so on.

Can you put off getting the dress fitted until it's closer to the time? Even waiting a couple months may make a difference. As Betsy said, the dress shop people should be able to help you- it's what they do.

I think I have like 2-3 more weeks before I have to go get fitted. I don't if it is my cousin wanting to get them fitted this early or if the David's Bridal requires it. I think the dress is flowy so maybe that will be better.

Go ahead and get fitted now to make the bride happy. But, you can always find another seamstress later to alter it some more right before the wedding. I had a similar situation... was on WW and losing a lot. I was like a size 8 when they ordered the dress, but for some bizarre reason they ordered a 14. Then, I was like a size 4 by the time the wedding came around. It was ridiculous how much the dress had to be taken in, but they did it.

adagray,

How did WW work for you, do you still follow it? How do you do it? Just break your points up into three meals and two Snacks? Very curious about this, as I have been thinking about doing WW (flex or core) for a while. I am holding at 16lbs in three weeks lost...nothing to shake a stick at I know, just curious if I can up the losses a little.

The first fitting will be very basic---the aim is to determine what size dress to order. The staff will know how to help you.

Chances are, you will have at least one more fitting, once the dresses arrive. If not, you can use a different seamstress, if need be.

Just tell the bridal shop staff how much you expect to lose by the wedding; they will be able to guide you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
