Hey everyone I'm new on here and am having a little bit of an issue here. I got banded on 9/23/08 and I've lost 95 lbs. I've been stuck at the same weight for roughly 7 months now and can't seem to get under 178. My cycles are like clockwork every 32 days. However, cycle is a no show today and I tested this morning and it said -. We've been trying for 3 years to get preggers and I decided to wait until I lost enough weight to have a healthy pregnancy and not be miserable the entire time. I had surgery last month because they found out both of my tubes were blocked and I had a large amount of polyps in my uterus, and got my cyle on April 23rd. I'm wondering if anyone has had experiences (since being banded) with pregnancy tests showing - until you're further along than usual? The only thing that has changed is tender breasts, having trouble keeping things down, and no cycle. Other than that nothing, no cramping, no spotting, no nausea, no nothing! I'm a little concerned that I'm not getting enough in if I am, I don't normally eat too much and yesterday I was STARVING the entire day and today I'm having issues keeping stuff down. I plan on calling my doc in the morning for a blood pregnancy test. If anyone has had any experiences with cycle issues I would REALLY appreciate it!

THANKS!

Way to go on the weight loss! I got banded in '08 as well outside of Fort Hood, and I'm only down 40 lbs.

I know that when I took the first two pregnancy tests - one the day before cycle was supposed tos tart, and one two days after - both were negative. I waited about five more days and gave it a try then, and it showed positive.

With my band baby, I didn't get a positive until about 1 1/2 weeks after I was supposed to start. I am not sure why, maybe I just ovulated late in the cycle and it was off for other reasons. I think I may have had posts on this site saying I keep getting negatives but TOM never started . . . what do you think.

Anyways, I don't know why but that was how it was for me - a late positive. I also had my due date adjusted after the first sonogram so it appears as though I didn't really conceive until my TOM was actually due to start.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
