I am 9 months out and very disappointed. Since banded I have been having problems with siatica. I will go a couple weeks without pain and it comes back. My weightloss is very slow and have lost only 30 pounds in this time. Is there hope for me? Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am just worried I have failed my band. The pain is so bad sometimes I can hardly walk.

I too have an intense problem with sciatica that comes and goes. i work quite hard but avoid heavy lifting. the only thing I can suggest is to possibly lower calorie intake. have you spoken to your doctor about your weightloss or the nutritionist?

My next appointment is next week so I will speak with someone then. It is just really frustrating that I can only go 6 weeks without having problems with siactica. The next 6 weeks is all down hill.

Hey I'm sorry about your pain! I just want to let you know that you have definitely not failed your band. Just because you can't exercise does not mean you won't lose weight. I didn't start losing weight until February even though I was on an injured knee and completely inactive until this month. It really is all a matter of restriction. Maybe you just need that half a cc, you know? The worst thing you can do is feel like you've given up though, because in my experience that hinders weight loss even more.

I have gone to a pain management clinic and boy do I feel better. The last week I have been able to exercise(walking) and it is making a difference. I am feelig so much better now but the pain is not completely gone. This has been the hardiest thing to do. As of this morning I am in onederland, can't remember the last tieme I was here. It has been a very so process but I will keep doing what I can. Life sometimes throws us curve balls but we must keep plugging away and moving forward. I will not give up on my band, come to far and refuse to look back. Thanx for the encouragement

Hi there,

I just wanted to say hang in there! I can't imagine how difficult being in that kind of pain has been for you. Personally I think you've done a great job, considering what all you've got going on.

I'm glad to hear your pain is being managed better, that should help a lot. It's so easy to get down and discouarged with the pain and the slower weight loss, but keep on keeping on and you can do it!

Hi,

I am convinced that after 11 months, I have found the key! Exercise!!! Yes, i know, easier said than done...it is always difficult to develop a habit, especially this one. But, changing your whole outlook on life, which is what we are all striving to do on this journey with the lapband, is what we must do! THERE IS NO OPTION FOR FAILURE! I mean it. If you just keep that attitude when you wake up in the morning, it is gonna be tough to make up excuses as to why you cannot work out. start by getting a pedometer . I got one yesterday. Experts say at least 10,000 steps daily. Work up to it if you find you are short by the end of the night. I also dusted off the shape ropes that I bought last year and did a 10minute workout on my arms. I know it worked because the next day I was really sore. Then that accomplishment led to a trip to Walmart. I purchased kettlebells and let me tell you: AN 8lb or 10LB kettlebell will efficiently work out every major muscle group. If you don't know how check out Bodybuilding.com - Kettlebell Exercise Guides Database..

It is free so there is NO excuse for saying you cannot afford a gym membership. I personally have a YMCA membership and if I don't feel like going to the gym or it is closed when I want to go, I walk 20-30 minutes, always remembering to keep on my pedometer on all day long and work out with either the shape ropes or the kettlebells. I am currently down 50lbs and the more I lose the more motivated I become. This is what I mean by changing your life. And so far as a gym is concerned, I don't know about you but for me , the more activities available at the gym (swimming, aerobic classes, yoga, pilates, racquetball, track, treadmills, ellipticals, weights, bikes, etc) the more likely I am to go on a regular basis. It also affords you many opportunities to meet new people, who will give you additional motivation. And lastly, I cannot stand being bored, so I found a gym that had individual TV"S connected to treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals, so I could totally block out what I was doing. If I did my workout first thing in the morning, my whole day was great, I had much more energy, and I slept better at night.

Keep up the great work and please keep posting! I count on it for extra motivation and it is nice to know I am not alone!

_Lastly, after doing this exercise routine for about 2 weeks, so people it may take longer, it is really difficult to justify eating poorly, I PROMISE!_________________

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
