Hello All,

I was banded on Tuesday May 18 and was wondering when will I be able to sleep on my stomach? I have been sleeping on my back and it is so uncomfortable. Also, wondering, when will the gas pain end?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I was banded monday the 17th. I still have the gas pains, but they really calmed down today. I was able to sleep on my stomach the 4th night. I started my putting a pillow under the port side so I was kinda lifted up. Hope you can get some rest.. I know its hard!

I, like you, had this same question so I asked my Doctor. His reply was "whenever you can tolerate it". For some that means a couple days after surgery, others it means a few weeks. The main point is that I don't think you can do damage to your band by sleeping on your stomach as long as you aren't rolling around in bed while you sleep or using your abs too much while you are in the healing stage. I just had my band a week and a half ago, and I tried sleeping on my stomach a couple days ago and woke up a little achy, so I waited a few days and tried it again last night, no prob. Good luck

I slept on my stomach from the get go. I was lucky enough to have very little pain, I have a high tolerance. I agree, you can do it as soon as it's comfortable for you. Get a good night sleep!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
