rarndt 0 Posted May 23, 2010 Hello All, I was banded on Tuesday May 18 and was wondering when will I be able to sleep on my stomach? I have been sleeping on my back and it is so uncomfortable. Also, wondering, when will the gas pain end? Thanks in advance for your advice.
Nean4488 1 Posted May 23, 2010 I was banded monday the 17th. I still have the gas pains, but they really calmed down today. I was able to sleep on my stomach the 4th night. I started my putting a pillow under the port side so I was kinda lifted up. Hope you can get some rest.. I know its hard!
NurseKatie 0 Posted May 23, 2010 I, like you, had this same question so I asked my Doctor. His reply was "whenever you can tolerate it". For some that means a couple days after surgery, others it means a few weeks. The main point is that I don't think you can do damage to your band by sleeping on your stomach as long as you aren't rolling around in bed while you sleep or using your abs too much while you are in the healing stage. I just had my band a week and a half ago, and I tried sleeping on my stomach a couple days ago and woke up a little achy, so I waited a few days and tried it again last night, no prob. Good luck
vlp1968 83 Posted May 23, 2010 I slept on my stomach from the get go. I was lucky enough to have very little pain, I have a high tolerance. I agree, you can do it as soon as it's comfortable for you. Get a good night sleep!
